Glaswegians back brave Gorbals dad in his defamation fight against Tommy Robinson over “invader” claim
Quroum Beg is suing Robinson after the far right agitator shared a clip of him to his 2 million followers calling him an “invader” and maliciously claiming he was “filming children”
Beg, a fourth generation Glaswegian, was at a local Gorbals park with his kids and neighbours when they were chased away by an incoming mob chanting “send them back”
He bravely stood up to the mob and was slandered online as a result - leading to a barrage of sick racist abuse and threats
Robinson initially apologised for the claim, but then in a bizarre topless post looking like he was on a terrible hangover… he denied the apology and instead blamed an unnamed admin of his social media
Quroum has now launched a crowdfunded towards legal fees that has already reached over £14,000
He said: “I was filming a protest. He called me an 'invader' and accused me of filming children. It wasn’t true.
“I’m an ordinary Glaswegian. I’ve never sought public attention, and I’m not a public figure by choice.
“Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), an account with approximately 2 million followers on X, shared a video of me with a caption falsely alleging I was filming children with sinister intent, and describing me as an “invader.” I was in fact filming a protest. The post was viewed over 139,000 times within 48 hours.
“As a direct result, I was followed, my car was searched for, and my children watched me get racially abused in the street. Police involvement was required for my safety.”
If you think anyone spreading malicious lies of false information about others online should be held accountable - then you should join the fight because if they keep getting away with it then what’s stopping someone spreading lies about you and your family ?
