I find it difficult to find decent cover art from this century in the realm of speculative fiction, but Luis Rodrigues did a handful for the PS Publishing issues of Zivkovic's books that really work. They all have this almost minimalist look and a refined design sensibility, reminiscent of the Gaughan cover art for Walker books in the 70s. I don't think the problem is the art, I think the problem is using artwork as a backdrop rather than the art and lettering being laid out in tandem.

John Guildford is a pseudonym for Bluebell Matilda Hunter which was the penname for Matilda Angela Antonia Hunter. It is not a pseudonym for Talbot Mundy as the Google AI reported. Mundy went to school in Guildford, so the AI probably just put two and two together and made nonsense.

I saw this book on a stack on the floor. A little rubbed and bumped for my taste. I didn't like it. Not one bit. It didn't deserve a place on the hallowed Hyraxia shelves. So I gave it some ungodly side-eye, hissed at it and spat out a few cutting insults. I picked it up, turned and walked right into the corner of a bookshelf. This week I are been mostly going for blue crates (It's a Fast Show reference, I'm not a moron).

Approximately 72% packed for Boston Book Fair at the beginning of next month. Can't remember what stand we're on, somewhere near the back. Can't remember the venue either. Or the dates. But it's defo Boston and it's a book fair. I'm not a moron.
