Coronavirus Update - open

With the easing of COVID restrictions from April 12th, clients are now able to enter my workshop and test instruments - including instruments they wish to buy. However I anticipate the majority of people will continue to want to "click and collect" their own serviced/repaired instruments. My workshop is now located in a separate building but you should still come to my front door & ring the bell.
As before COVID arrived, all visits remain strictly by appointment only. Please wear a mask.
Please note when bringing your own instruments:
(1) All instruments undergo 3 days quarantine on arrival so no on-the-spot repair work is possible. Instruments will be inspected when you bring them.
(2) In order to manage the instrument quarantine, I am receiving instruments 4 days a week. Instruments received on Monday or Tuesday will complete their quarantine the same week and may well be ready to collect (workload permitting) that same week. Instruments received on Thursday or Friday will out of quarantine the following Monday.
(3) The bore of the instrument (including mouthpieces and crooks) must be dry and all reeds and cleaning materials (swabs, mops, etc) MUST be removed from the case before you bring the instrument.
(4) Please leave your name & contact details inside the case.

Coronavirus Update - operating & accepting new work

As a repair-based business, I have been able to open throughout the current COVID lockdown. I continue to work on a "click and collect" basis as clients are not allowed to enter the workshop before April 12th (at the earliest). My workshop is now located in a separate building but you should still come to my front door & ring the bell. Please note:
(1) All instruments undergo 3 days quarantine on arrival so no on-the-spot repair work is possible. Instruments will be inspected when you bring them.
(2) In order to manage the instrument quarantine, I am currently open for the receipt of instrument on Mondays and Thursdays only. This may change after April 12th.
(3) The bore of the instrument (including mouthpieces and crooks) must be dry and all reeds and cleaning materials (swabs, mops, etc) MUST be removed from the case before you bring the instrument.
(4) Please leave your name & contact details inside the case.

Tier 4 Covid restrictions - open & accepting work

The gov.uk guidance on tier 4 restrictions includes a list of business types allowed to stay open, stating that "businesses providing repair services may also stay open, where they primarily offer repair services". Until either I have been vaccinated or Cheshire moves down to tier 1 restrictions, I am using a "click and collect" service for the majority of instruments. My workshop is now located in a separate building. On-site trials of instruments is now possible with certain precautions.

Coronavirus Update - Open & accepting work

My workshop will remain operational for repairing and servicing your woodwind instruments during the English lockdown scheduled for November 5th - December 3rd. Since re-opening in June, I have effectively been offering a "click and collect" service and this will continue during the November lockdown. I have moved the workshop to a separate building and clients have not been entering the workshop in order to comply with COVID restrictions . On-site trials of instruments, etc will not be possible during the November lockdown. Contact me to discuss options for remote trials.

I will be closed 1-9 September for surgery and recovery. I will be accepting instruments again from September 10th for their 3 day quarantine & aim to re-start on Monday September 14th.

Coronavirus Update - now open

I am open from today (June 15th) and able to repair and service your woodwind instruments again. You will find many changes, including
(1) I am only open 2 days a weeks until at least the end of July - Mondays and Thursdays.
(2) All instruments will undergo 3 days quarantine on arrival so no on-the-spot work will be possible.
(3) The bore of the instrument (including mouthpieces and crooks) must be dry and all reeds and cleaning materials (swabs, mops, etc) MUST be removed before you bring the instrument.
(4) I am relocating my workshop so you will no longer come into my house.

In these days of highly infectious viral pandemics, any activity that involves blowing or placing items in your mouth risk spreading the virus. Playing a woodwind or brass instrument involves one or both, so must be treated as a risky activity. Please DO NOT share reeds or mouthpieces. Updated Re-opening Date

In light of the coronavirus restrictions, I am temporarily closed, but aim to re-open on Monday 15th June. When I re-open, I will have moved my workshop into a purpose-built workshop for woodwind repair and servicing work, behind my garage. Clients will no longer come into my house. I will initially re-open 2 days a week (Mondays and Thursdays) and increase days as demand returns. I will outline coronavirus-safe working procedures shortly.

Coronavirus Status
In light of the current restrictions on movement outside of people's homes, I have decided to stop taking in new repair and servicing work. I will review this as soon as we have news on any future easing of restrictions. I am not currently taking future bookings but will restart bookings if the situation changes. I am continuing to work on instruments that are already here. I remain available to discuss your woodwind repair / servicing needs by email, text or phone during this period.
