🌱 Divide perennials: Keep plants vigorous and multiply them for free! Mix our organic, nutrient-rich compost into the new planting holes to give fresh roots the best start.

🍇 Harvest autumn raspberries and dig up remaining potatoes before slugs spoil them.

🍁 Collect/sow perennial and hardy annual seeds, and clean out cold frames and greenhouses.

🍂 Net ponds before autumn leaf fall gets underway

💦 Keep up with watering new plants (use rainwater if you can!), but start reducing houseplant watering.

🌷 Plant spring flowering bulbs e.g such as daffodils, crocus and hyacinths, preferably by the end of September

Summer isn't over yet, but now's the time to give your garden a little extra attention to keep it thriving into autumn. Here's your August to-do list:

✂️ Prune wisteria to keep it under control and encourage a spectacular display next year.

🍎 Summer prune trained apples and pears to help fruit ripen in the sunshine and promote a better harvest next season.

🌸 Deadhead faded flowers to keep borders looking their best and encourage more blooms.

💧 Water wisely. Give containers and new plants a thorough soak, using stored rainwater or recycled grey water where possible. Deep watering encourages stronger roots.

🌱 Collect seeds from your favourite flowers to grow next year - for free!

🍓 Pot up strawberry runners to create more plants ready for next year's crop.

Healthy plants start with healthy soil, so don't forget to top up beds, borders and containers with nutrient-rich Chedington Compost to keep your garden looking its best. 🌿
