The secret to finishing a neat forelock plait… Forelock Grippers 🙌

Once the forelock has been plaited, the fine gripping teeth securely hold the end, allowing you to pull it back up through the centre of the plait for a smart, tidy finish without bands or thread.

GROOMING YOUR HORSE 👏

It might sound obvious, but that pre-ride brush is about much more than making them look clean before you tack up.

It’s a chance to get rid of any dirt or dried sweat where the tack sits, have a proper feel over their body and notice any lumps, bumps or sore areas before you get on.

Here we’re using the Borstiq Banana Medium Brush followed by our Traditional Brush. Nothing complicated, just a good old-fashioned groom before riding.

Who else actually enjoys the pre-ride groom almost as much as the ride? 🙋‍♀️

A face you might recognise… Forgeland Hyde Park 🤍

If you’ve ever had a bottle of our Super Shine or Super Shine Spray, you’ll probably recognise this very handsome face. Known at home as William, he’s been the face of our Super Shine range for years, but his career in the show ring deserves a post of its own.

And what a career he’s had.

From qualifying for HOYS at his very first show, William went on to become one of the most successful show hacks of his time.

🏆 3 x HOYS Hack Champion
🏆 2 x HOYS Intermediate Champion
🏆 Supreme Horse of the Year at HOYS 2023
🏆 6 x Royal Windsor Championship titles
🏆 A record 6 wins in the RIHS Large Hack Final

Over the years he was ridden and produced by some brilliant names in showing, and more recently enjoyed huge success with Danielle Heath and his owner Isabella Mears-Wood.

After an incredible 10-year career, William was retired from the show ring at HOYS in 2025, very deservedly heading home to enjoy his retirement.

We’ve been incredibly lucky to have such a special horse associated with Smart Grooming and our Super Shine range for so many years.

A brush that can handle THIS much tail 😍

Our Mane & Tail Brush is made for working through thick, full manes and tails like this gorgeous natural dressage tail.

The flexible bristles help work through the hair gently and effectively, minimising unnecessary breakage when used correctly. Start at the bottom, work upwards in sections and add a few sprays of Xtreme Detangler to help with any knots and tangles.

And just look at how beautifully it brushes through… full, smooth and SO shiny ✨

Left or right-handed? Our Levelling Knives work for both 🙌

The blade works both ways depending on which hand you prefer to use, making it just as easy to shorten, thin and tidy manes either way.
