Diannah Lowry – Contemporary Landscape Painting - Devon Gold II

A striking and treasured, contemporary landscape by Diannah Lowry, capturing the dramatic beauty and changing moods of the South Devon countryside.

This mixed media painting contrasts a vivid, sunlit golden field with a brooding, atmospheric sky, creating an immediate sense of depth, movement and anticipation. A row of dark, silhouetted trees stretches across the horizon, their organic forms standing in beautiful tension against the expansive yellow landscape and turbulent grey clouds.

Diannah Lowry is a contemporary artist originally from Sydney, Australia, now based in South Devon. Her landscape paintings are inspired by the drama and changing moods of the Devon landscape, with colour playing a particularly important role in her work.

This large, framed painting is ready to hang, has recently been reduced by the artist to £745 and has been getting a lot of interest in it's new location at the foot of our stairs in the gallery.

Tucked into the beautiful stone and wooden buildings at Dartington, the Cider Press Centre has a lovely, relaxed mix of art, independent makers, food, music, events, craft and creative workshops and more...

Mooch Art and Makers is at the heart of the artistic side, showcasing contemporary paintings, ceramics, glass, jewellery, woodwork and other handmade pieces, with most of our artists connected to the South West.

And then there’s Designs Cafe — a cosy creative café where you can enjoy coffee and cake, paint pottery or join an art workshop.

Go Deer hosts textile workshops.
TOG24 outlet selling outdoor clothing, Shed hairdressing

Throughout the Summer from Thursday - Sunday Miss Ivy Events is hosting a variety of Vintage, Lifestyle and Gift markets within the main building with live music on Saturdays.

Join us on the first Saturday of the month for DART Market outside CLASH in the 2nd car park with local food and sustainable goods.

This inviting corner of Mooch Art & Makers brings together a striking collection of contemporary South West art and craft, creating a vibrant conversation between landscape, nature and handmade design.

Mooch Art & Makers, Dartington, Devon

On the left wall is Kerry Tremlett's expressive woodland painting, where twisting trees glow with rich copper and ochre tones against deep turquoise shadows. Full of energy and movement, it draws the viewer into an enchanted forest bathed in warm light.

Balancing it on the right is a dramatic atmospheric landscape by Belinda Reynell, with sweeping skies, textured brushwork and a muted palette of soft blues, creams and earthy browns. The painting captures the ever-changing mood of the South West landscape, evoking both power and tranquillity.

Beneath the larger works are smaller original paintings by Henrietta Paine and Miranda Garner, offering colourful coastal scenes and local landscapes that provide a charming contrast to the scale of the feature pieces. Together they showcase the diversity of artistic styles represented within our gallery.

The display is completed with a carefully curated selection of ceramics, hand-turned wood, glass, hand printed lampshades, turned wooden lamps, ceramics and glass demonstrating Mooch Art & Makers' commitment to celebrating exceptional craftsmanship alongside original fine art.

☀️ What a fantastic day at Mooch Art and Makers! We were delighted to extend the gallery outdoors and be alongside the buzz at Miss Ivy's Retro & Vintage Market as well as The DART Market in the second car park outside CLASH and are fellow independent business owners Luna's Bakehouse, Shed Hair, Go Deer, Designs Cafe, The Orchard Carving Studio and TOG24.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to browse, chat, and support our independent artists and makers. Your enthusiasm means the world to us, and it was a joy to see so many people enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
