Well, seeing as weโ€™re on holiday and not disappearing off anywhere exotic, it would have been rude not to make the most of whatโ€™s right on our doorstep and head to the Clyde Valley garden centres! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒธ

A few new plants may have accidentally found their way home with me (completely unavoidable, obviously! ๐Ÿ˜‚), and I even spotted the first Christmas displays starting to appear in Silverbirch.

Retail really is a strange worldโ€”while the rest of us are enjoying summer, theyโ€™re already planning for winter!

Naturally, I couldnโ€™t leave without taking plenty of photos of all the beautiful plants and flowers on display. There was colour everywhere you looked, and if thereโ€™s one thing guaranteed to make me happy, itโ€™s a good garden centre wander filled with gorgeous blooms.

Day out at the stunning Stirling Castle! Itโ€™s Craigโ€™s favourite castle, and itโ€™s easy to see why. From the gorgeous views and incredible history to the amazing craftsmanship around every corner, thereโ€™s so much to take in.

Of course, it wouldnโ€™t be me if I didnโ€™t manage to find the flowery bit! ๐ŸŒธ

These photos are from the long-established flower beds in the Queen Anne Gardens, tucked away within the castle walls. Even at this time of year, theyโ€™re still bursting with colour and interest. See if you can spot the thistles too โ€” they are absolutely massive! ๐ŸŒฟ

Standing at almost 70cm tall and 21cm square, this lantern is an absolute statement piece. The 30cm battery-operated flicker candle gives off that cosy autumn and winter glow we all love, without any of the worry of a real flame.

All of the flowers are fixed in place, but the candle can easily be removed, replaced or swapped for something completely different to suit your style.

I have to admit, if I actually had time to sit down and admire my own creations, Iโ€™d be very tempted to keep this one for myself! ๐Ÿ˜‚

The lantern itself was handcrafted by Darach Design, making this a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Every detail has been lovingly put together, creating something completely bespoke thatโ€™s guaranteed to turn heads in your home.

I think this beauty might just have to come along to Lanark with me and the Makers & Merchants team tomorrow!

Yes, you read that right โ€“ Iโ€™m actually taking a whole week off for the summer holidays! Donโ€™t panic though, there are events either side of it, but in between there will be absolutely no flowering, no bouquets and definitely no last-minute dashes to the wholesalers.

August is another busy one, packed with events and plenty to keep us on our toes when weโ€™re back.

Remember, the website never sleeps, even when I do! So if you suddenly remember a birthday at 11pm or realise youโ€™ve forgotten an anniversary (we wonโ€™t judge), you can order any time, day or night. ๐ŸŒทโœจ

This weekโ€™s Flower of the Week is the thistle (Eryngium). ๐Ÿ’™

With so many different varieties available, they bring an amazing range of colours, sizes and textures to floral designs. From striking blues and rich purples to elegant whites, thereโ€™s always a way to add a subtle Scottish touch to your flowers.

Of course, the wild thistle is a completely different variety and is the iconic bloom most closely associated with Scotland. Florists, however, love the cultivated versions supplied to us โ€” not only are they beautiful and versatile, but theyโ€™re also a lot less jaggy than their wild cousins! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Cabin Update! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

When we finished the cabin last year, you might remember the front of the roof was left held on with some rather ugly clips!

It wasnโ€™t us being lazy though. My son-in-law and chief builder, Scott, had the brilliant idea of adding a canopy, so we left it that way to allow the roof felt to run seamlessly onto the new structure.

So, if youโ€™re visiting the cabin over the next little while, donโ€™t be surprised if you spot random bits of wood sticking out here and there. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The canopy is officially under construction!

Weโ€™re hoping it wonโ€™t take too long and, most importantly, it wonโ€™t disrupt any flower orders. Once itโ€™s finished, itโ€™ll really complete the look of the cabin, provide some much-needed shade for the windows in the summer, and keep us a bit drier during those lovely Scottish winters.

Weโ€™re always looking for ways to improve things, and this has been part of the plan from the very beginning.

One of our recent brides has sent us these gorgeous photos from her special day, and we just had to share them. ๐Ÿ’œ

The brief was rich, luxurious colours with beautiful purple tones, and one thing the bride absolutely had her heart set on was peonies. I was delighted when I found these stunning oversized silk peonies in the perfect shadeโ€”they were exactly what sheโ€™d been looking for.

We created the bridal bouquet, the groomโ€™s buttonhole and corsages for the guests, and seeing everything come together on the day was so lovely. The colours complemented each other beautifully against the outfits for the day.

A huge congratulations to our wonderful couple. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your special day, and we wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness together. โค๏ธ
