It might have been a rainy week but never the better reason to get cracking with our June reads.

You might notice a new face in the line-up, say hello to Marie👋 She has been with us for the past two weeks, all the way from Germany, for her work experience. It's been lovely to have her with us, even if Tom has insisted on practising his year 9 German!

A huge congratulations to .l.evans on winning the 2026 Women's Prize with her gorgeous novel, The Correspondent.

We were especially excited to hear this book announced as the winner as it is our Contemporary Fiction Book Club pick for July! There are still a few spaces left on our two sessions, both can be booked in-store or via the Events page on our website:

Have you learned the basic techniques of crochet but want to take your skills to the next level? We are very excited to be hosting our first Next Steps: Intermediate Crochet Course led by Carrie Gardner-Pett.

Carrie will be taking you through new skills and techniques, such as colourwork, to really elevate your crochet and give you the confidence to try those projects which have seemed a bit daunting!

✨🌲Wildheart Book Launch🌟🌳

Last night we had the joy of hosting a very special book launch for Bec Manser and her debut fantastical middlegrade novel, Wildheart, published by . A book full of wild magic, spooky ghouls and adventure with a group of diverse characters that you're sure to fall in love with!

We've been following Bec's publishing journey since the bookshop opened, so we were delighted to be a part of the celebration. The bookshop was transformed into a magical forest, with an even more magical cake.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along last night to support the book launch. For anyone who couldn't attend last night, we have got signed copies of Wildheart in-store.

💛 Suddenly welcomes back Claire Daverley!💛

The ray of sunshine that is best-selling author Claire Daverley joined us at the bookshop last night to celebrate her brand new novel - People in Love. Two years on from our Talking at Night event, it was an absolute delight to welcome her back to Suddenly!

Claire spoke with such warmth and candor about her writing processes, characters and experience transitioning from a debut author - even giving us a sneak preview through a reading. Everyone who attended left with a tomato chutney, which is very relevant to the story we promise!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along (and dodged the rain storms!). There are limited signed copies available of both People in Love and Talking at Night available in-store, both perfect summer reads.
