Hello all, it’s Celia here - the human behind Acorn Boxes!
I’ve been quiet on here for a while, and want to share where I’m at in terms of what’s next for Acorn Boxes.
To put it simply, I’ve just not had as much time and headspace recently!
This has been for both lovely reasons (going on a big trip to the US and getting engaged!) and slightly stressful reasons (there’s lots of big things going on at my full time job!).
When I first launched Acorn Boxes earlier this year I had the privilege of more time and more headspace too.
However, my responsibilities at my full-time small charity job have increased significantly throughout the year, and now I’ve also got a wedding to help plan!
Not being able to commit as much creative energy and passion to Acorn Boxes has been difficult. Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty heavy and guilty recently whenever I’ve thought about Acorn Boxes, and trapped in decision paralysis when it comes to what’s next.
I’ve had to be realistic about the amount of time, energy and personal financial investment I will be able to put into Acorn Boxes for the medium term. I certainly don’t want to give up! I just want to do things well and with long-term resilience at the forefront 💪
To help frame my thinking and decisions, I generated a list of things that Acorn Boxes *won’t be* in the immediate future. I thought I’d share them with you now:
1. No more seasonal boxes for the time-being. This one might have been obvious as there’s been none since Spring! 🙈
2. Nothing that requires as much up-front time and financial investment as the first test I ran with the Spring box
3. Following from the last point - nothing that requires buying products in bulk, then storing them at my house whilst intermittently packing and posting boxes
So where does that leave me? Here’s some of the things that I still want Acorn Boxes to be:
1. A space for small businesses to share their stories and showcase their products
2. A space with opportunities for self-care and meaningful connection
This is a lot of information, so I’m going to leave it at this for now. I’ll post again to share further updates soon!
Very best wishes, Celia x
