The Little Dog Laughed

The Little Dog Laughed Loved by people who love dogs. And cats! Discover animal lover greeting cards, gifts and original art. I (Anna Danielle) love dogs. I love drawing.

I love designing. I have a serious greeting card habit. I have been incredibly lucky to combine all four passions into "the little dog laughed"; a card and gift company owed by myself and my two brothers, Gavin & Nathan. I'm always on the look out for a new muse and this page is the best place to send in your pictures and stories of your furry loved ones or keep up with the new designs, special offers and the stuff that inspires us at Little Dog Towers!

2027 Calendar and Diary Updates || The 2027 calendars and diaries are ALMOST here. We have a docking date of Sept 8th so fingers crossed, if there are no delays in the unloading process they should be in stock around the 15th.
To all the muse winners, the new cards including Xmas are in stock so I'll send your complimentary products in one parcel if you are happy to hang on a couple of weeks longer. I have a lower error rate if I complete one task at a time 🤪

Hats off to all those who make light work of standing, smiling and chatting for more than three consecutive days. Think delayed flight airport lounge with not nearly enough seats, interspersed with moments of action!

My brothers do the last show day which includes the organised chaos of breakdown- extra tricky in hilly Harrogate, and a home ETA of 11ish. That's a big shift for Nath who was on the road at 5am to get a slot in the breakdown queue.

But bigger hats off goes to the small independent card and gift shop owners who finish work on a Saturday, walk the show halls Sunday and Monday and are then back behind the counter, bright and breezy Tuesday. Different gravy!

And the honest word on the street? It's really tough out there.
So, if you have a favourite gift shop, book shop, farm shop or lovely cafe near you, a place that adds value to your local area and your day off, maybe squeeze in a little visit this July and August.

Of course we can get things cheaper online but every saving does have a hidden cost. We saw this firsthand when we tried a two month pop-up shop near home. It was pre Covid but the experience taught us so much.
We witnessed the value of small businesses within a community. Saturday jobs for the young, flexible working for mums. Conversations, routine and acknowledgement for elders. Even the marriage saving purchases on Christ men-only Eve!

We had one chap who started visiting daily. We were quiet -location really is everything -so got him a chair and he became a fixture in our pop-up adventure. Gavin is very good on general knowledge, WW2 and chatting, so they hit it off immediately. What we didn't know until his son and daughter-in-law visited, was that he had been diagnosed with dementia. His time with us and the other shops in the precinct gave him a routine, mental stimulation and his wife a few precious hours of respite.

Our trade customers have a thousand more stories of this added value. A value I was completely oblivious of until we walked a mile in their shoes.
So please do keep a protective eye on your favourite local shops, it's a two-way street!

Two first evers in twenty+ years of set ups. 3hrs 10mins construction and faffing time. NEVER ever done before AND then a young Robin visitor came a bob-bob-bobbin along. Need a lie down to let it all soak in!

July the 1st, that's us past the half way point for 2026 and freewheeling all the way to Christmas!
And are you all still living the dream? If yes, woohoo!
If not, let me distract you for a nanosecond with the joy that is Boots the Bedlington and our Mr July 2026.

Boots the Bedlington terrier loves a good sleep as much as he loves adventure.
His decision on which one to do is always weather-dependent.
Raining, stay in bed, sunshine ‘Let’s Go!’
Once the sun has charged his batteries the transformation into a pioneering explorer is incredible. He loves climbing, sniffing, exploring, and throwing in a few surprise
sets of top-speed zoomies.

This little Beddie enjoys holidaying in the family motorhome, sharing the excitement of visiting new places and meeting new people. Boots is supremely confident in the power of his charms and because he loves everyone he struggles to fathom why anyone wouldn’t love him back.

Thankfully he rarely has to face this insult as his fan base is huge. A lover of cuddles, Boots is a people pup and after a full day he’ll head to bed, contentedly sinking into a deep sleep. His twitching paws are the only visual clue as his brain banks yet another great day on planet Earth!

Happy July folks, may the dogs be ever in your favour 🙂
