We're E-bike Positive

Co-managed by UK cycle industry bodies the Bicycle Association (BA) and the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT), E-Bike Positive aims to safeguard the UK’s e-bike sector by providing a clear mechanism for consumers, regulators, insurers and other stakeholders to identify reputable, safe and legal e-bikes and responsible e-bike suppliers.

The E-Bike Positive Trust Mark is awarded once rigorous requirements are met regarding supplying, retailing, and supporting only legal and safe e-bike products. Organisations meeting these criteria are designated as an 'E-Bike Positive brand' or an 'E-Bike Positive retailer.'

Working together as an industry we can showcase the responsibility of our industry, and the safety and consumer benefits of our products, to secure a positive future for e-bikes in the UK.

What does it mean for you? If you have bought a road legal e-bike from a reputable supplier that has not been modified we can service it.

If your e-bike is powered by: Shimano, Bosch, TQ, Mahle (E-motion), Yamaha, Fazua, GoCycle or Brose we have the diagnostics tools and training to help you.

It's that time again, as well as the Hill Climb with Ilkeston Cycle Club tonight, we are heavily involved with Little Eaton Carnival and the workshop will be Closed on Saturday 4th July.
Roads are subject to closure in the area and we will be marshalling the event.

May for us is the start of our busy period and in the past its when we can get a bit overwhelmed by the amount of work.

This year we added extra resource (thanks Josh) and the results are (we think) pretty good.

Over 180 bikes/repairs completed and 63% turned round in 3 days or less.

We can't guarantee your bike will be get done this quickly, as sometimes it's beyond our contriol re deliveries and stock availability etc, but we are doing everything we can to get you back cycling as fast and efficiently as we can as well as providing an expert, professional service.

April update
53% of our Servicing and Repairs were completed less than 3 days after drop off.

We have invested in additional resource to ensure we can cater for your requirements during the Spring Summer when everyone wants to get out and enjoy their bikes.

Josh has joined us for this busy period, giving us extra manpower and a great deal of knowldge & expertise from his race team experience.

Big on Bikes are an authorised Service Partner for many e-bike motor manufacturers (Bosch, Shimano, Fazua, Mahle, TQ, Yamaha, Brose, N+).

As such we can process warranty and advise on features of the various brands and any reccomended manufacturer approved upgrades.

E-bikes are a fantastic enabler for many reasons and have dramatically increased participation in cycling amongst all sorts of riders, some new and some returning.

Unfortunately, a small number of e-bikes come to us that have been modified and are not UK legal.

Once these bikes have been modified to exceed the UK legal limit or have 3rd party software installed, they immediately lose all manufacturer warranties in the UK.

We will only work on these if we remove the hardware or software or are able to revert back to road legal specifications.

Our manufacturers diagnostic software will identify any modifications and any warranty claims will not be progressed if flagged up as illegally modified.

We have recently signed up to the industry E-Bike Positive Program to further enhance our position on this matter.

We are aware this may upset some e-bike users that have modified their bikes, however from a legal and liability stance we know our policy on this matter is supported both by the majority of our customers and the brands we represent.

If you are thinking of modifying your e-bike to exceed support higher than the UK legal limit of 15.5mph or have an e-bike that is not UK legal then please do not be offended if we refuse your request for warranty or repair/servicing.

UPDATE TO CUSTOMER REWARD SCHEME

Our Customer Rewards Scheme has been in operation now for over 6 years. We introduced it to recognise loyalty from customers who used us regularly, and there are now over 2500 customers getting rewards on all their purchases whether it be on services, repairs or parts.

Until now, we have not placed a limit on how long points last. This is not an issue for most customers, because they use us at least once a year. However, for those who are not regular customers, we are introducing a 3 year limit for points to remain valid.

This change will be implemented on 1st May 2026 to give customers the chance to update the "last purchase date".

As long as you make a purchase within a 3 year period, your points will carry over.
Points can be used against any purchase in store. They cannot be redeemed for cash or refunded on a payment card.

We would like to emphasize that we appreciate each and every one of our customers and the support they give us, and we hope we see you soon.
