Had a couple of hours at Hopton Hall Gardens doing some art. I drew this and submitted it for their art competition, (cos why not?). Drawing stuff on demand is not my forte, and drawing from life is definitely not my thing, but I gave it a go. I took some photos too, which I'm happier with but CBA to submit them

I went to Hopton Hall today as part of their month long artist invitation to create. I've not really done much 'in the wild' stuff before but I gave it a go. I liked this bed but not the tree. I found another tree I liked, so I put them together. The paper was far grainier than I expected, I only took watercolour pencils and neither were my usual media... ho hum. Still wondering if I should do a background?

My mum has always loved the Derbyshire countryside and holds many fond memories of driving through endless miles of gorgeous scenery - like driving through a painting. I hope this card, for her 92nd birthday today, reminds her of those happy times
