This is a great picture! “ my saddle is pinching at the top so I must need a wider tree “ is the number one mistake in fitting a saddle. Saddles that are too wide sit too low on the horse and steal your clearance and effect your balance. Get the tree shape and width correct is the way to a perfect fit.

6 reasons to get your saddle checked!!

1. Behaviour changes
Suddenly gone from saint to spicy?
Check the top 3: Saddle → Back → Teeth

2. Weight change
Rug fitting differently? Girth on new holes?
Your saddle fit will have changed too.

3. Change of season
Winter breaks, summer work, spring/autumn transitions can all affect shape.

4. After time off
Time off = muscle changes. Always worth checking before restarting work.

5. You are riding differently
Maybe you're suddenly leaning back? Or your instructor is telling you to sit differently? The saddle being out of balance affects you too.

6. Not checked in the last 12 months
Even the most experienced riders benefit from a professional second opinion. It could save you a fortune on physio!
