Dunwich Heath exactly one year ago. Once a place for beauty and rare wildlife. Just one spark last week resulted in a devastating wildfire which despite heroic efforts of the fire services, destroyed the whole nature reserve. Along with many others, we are heartbroken.
The National Trust have set up an appeal for help. Please donate if you possibly can so that this very special place can be restored.

Thyme Lemonade has the most amazing sherbet lemon scent. Plant n a pot on or near an outside table and let it creep down giving a wonderful scent for us and to possibly discourage unwanted flying creatures. Pop a stem into a cocktail, gin or mocktail - lovely!

A surprising visitor to the nursery yesterday💛 We are a long way from the Norfolk Broads, so a bit confused as to why this Swallowtail butterfly is here. Could it be a European migrant Norfolk Wildlife Trust ? Whichever way this beautiful butterfly, dancing amongst the herbs, was magical. We are so lucky to have so much wildlife here, this is probably the rarest we have seen. After enthralling us for over an hour, it disappeared but we will all be looking out for it again today 😊

A hose pipe ban may be in force for some regions but we can still use a watering can. Remember that watering a garden with hoses is often a bad idea anyway. So what do we do? We WILL have rain! Don’t panic. Mother Nature will always balance it out. Another week and we should see some lovely rain. Mature shrubs will be ok. Deeper rooted perennials will also be fine and remember that plants will go into protection mode. Don’t stop buying plants- just choose drought tolerant plants and consider using containers (such as these Salvias) with a decent compost that retains moisture and then carefully water with a can using salvaged water if possible. Also, consider buying a water butt for when we do get rain! A lot of herbs and salvias are drought tolerant so we are lucky to be selling plants that can cope with the weather.

A rescue mission this morning! Scarlet Tiger Moth dropped from a plant whilst I was watering. Gently picked up with a plant label and carried to a marjoram flower. Pleased to say that Moth is OK.

Something different here for June. Agastache Pink Pearl, Cosmos Cherry Chocolate and Anthemis Tinctoria E.C. Buxton. Why do we have them when we are a herb nursery? Well, we just love them! Sometimes it is nice just to grow and enjoy something else.
