Creative craft centre Dewsbury, is celebrating 40 years of trading as Dewsbury's leading Haberdashery store, situated in the heart of a town rich in textile and wool heritage.
Starting out life as Bond street wool in the mid 1980s we have supported both the local creative community as well as fashion and textile students who came from all over the world to study at Batley and Dewsbury college of art all through the 1990s and into the new millennium. We have even had the pleasure of supplying on more than one occasion to the Royal household.
After 30 years of going from strength to strength in 2016 despite the general decline of high street retail Creative Craft Centre - Dewsbury found itself in need of a larger home so we moved from Bond street just around the corner into Wesley chambers union street, once the home of the Halifax bank ... Fun fact we still have the old bank vaults in the basement ( empty of course)
We stock a wide variety of fabrics from upholstery to chiffon, specialising in dead stock ( saving unused fabric from land fill) we've had fabric used by some of the worlds leading fashion houses such as Chanel and Alexander McQueen, we have a whole room just dedicated to cotton including Liberty London, for the haberdashery lovers we have every type of trimmings your heart could desire, approximately 10,000 Ykk zips, guttermann thread and we boast the largest range of both vintage and modern buttons anywhere in west Yorkshire
For the knitters and crocheters amongst you we stock the top quality local brands of James C Brett and King cole the later featuring on the TV series game of wool.
We also have a large range of knitting and crochet accessories, hand and machine sewing needles, tapestry screens and DMC Embroidery threads
We also offer a garment alteration, repair and made to measure service provided by our in house qualified fashion designer and seamstress with herself 30 years experience and have knitting and crochet experts on hand to offer help and advice
