Snetterton : The ups and downs of Motorsport . This weekend was one of the downs . Road sports on Saturday was going well and car going well . We were in a potential podium position but a balls up with the safety car and cars being allowed to pass through left us in 5th and driving v.well to get second fastest lap in class and car behaving well .
Sunday , changed a few things on the car to help us be competitive in class . Qualifying ended badly with third gear vacating the gearbox in first half of qually so I finished my and stint and Jon qualified in less than ideal conditions . A rapid gearbox change between qually and the race meant we could start with confidence . I began the race ,starting 6th on grid. Made way up to 3rd with a great battle with car 66 to gain the place . At the end of my stint a bad misfire appeared , came in for driver change and refuel thinking possible fuel starvation but Jon returned to pit garage with car running poorly. Rapidly diagnosed as no3 coil not working . Tried to swap quickly but coil had snapped so left half the coil in plug hole 😫 very difficult to remove and lost 5 laps removing it. A fresh coil fitted and Jon left the pit lane on 4 cylinders 👍. Jon put in some good laps and going well then appeared at the rear of the garage with a broken car head gasket failure and car a non runner. A dnf was not in the plans but I refer to my statement at top of message 🤦. It was a race of attrition with a lot of cars breaking . Brutal .
Bring on Silverstone in August . 👍
