IMPORTANT CUSTOMER ANNOUNCEMENT – PLEASE READ
It is with a very heavy heart that we, as a family, have made the extremely difficult decision to close our JJ’s V**es shops in Long Stratton and Harleston at the end of September.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly. These shops have been part of our family business for many years, and we have met some fantastic people along the way, many of whom have become regular customers and friends.
Unfortunately, the reality of running small high-street shops has become increasingly difficult. Rents continue to rise, landlords require more money, and the general costs of keeping the doors open, paying the bills and running the shops properly have reached the point where, financially, it simply no longer makes sense for us to continue operating three separate locations.
There is also another major factor that we cannot ignore. The new government tax on va**ng products will mean that, as a small independent family business, we will have to find and pay out several thousand pounds upfront simply to put legitimate, duty-paid stock onto our shelves.
We have always been extremely proud of the fact that JJ’s V**es only sells genuine products and genuine liquids from legitimate suppliers. We will not compromise on that.
Sadly, we are also very aware that not every v**e shop on the high street operates in the same legitimate way. Businesses like ours that follow the rules, purchase genuine products and pay the taxes and duties required are facing an increasingly difficult financial burden. We are not prepared to start selling questionable or non-genuine products simply to compete on price. That is not how we have ever run our family business, and it never will be.
We have therefore decided that the sensible way forward is to consolidate JJ’s V**es into one shop.
OUR DISS SHOP IS NOT CLOSING. JJ’S VAPES WILL CONTINUE TO TRADE FROM DISS.
In fact, this change will allow us to concentrate everything into one location and make the Diss shop stronger.
By reducing the overheads of running three separate shops, we will be able to put more back into the Diss store, carry a greater amount of stock, offer more choice and introduce a wider variety of products for our customers.
Rather than spreading stock across three locations, we will be able to concentrate our buying power into Diss and make sure the shop is better stocked, with more lines and more variety available under one roof.
All of the stock from Long Stratton and Harleston will be moved across to Diss during the transition period.
For us, this is not about giving up on JJ’s V**es. It is about changing the way we operate so that the business remains viable and can continue into the future.
During this transition period, the opening hours at Long Stratton and Harleston will need to change. There will be days when both shops need to close earlier than usual so that we can move stock, clear the premises and prepare everything properly for closure.
We have not set fixed reduced hours at this stage, as the times may need to vary depending on what work is being carried out. We will keep customers updated with any changes to opening times as we go.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we complete the transition.
We know this news will disappoint some of our customers, particularly those who have supported our Long Stratton and Harleston shops for many years, and for that we are genuinely sorry.
Most importantly, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, supported us, recommended us and remained loyal to JJ’s V**es. Small family businesses only survive because local people choose to support them, and we will never forget the support you have given us.
JJ’S VAPES IS NOT CLOSING. WE ARE SIMPLY BRINGING EVERYTHING TOGETHER IN DISS SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO OFFER GENUINE PRODUCTS, MORE STOCK AND A GREATER VARIETY TO OUR CUSTOMERS.
We sincerely hope that our customers from Long Stratton and Harleston will continue to support us by visiting our Diss shop. Your continued custom would mean a great deal to us and would be hugely appreciated as we move JJ’s V**es into this next chapter.
This is a very difficult change for us as a family, but we genuinely believe it is the right decision to protect the future of JJ’s V**es.
