This week I’ve finished up a job in the beautiful Polruan! Engineered oak parquet fitted on behalf of in Fowey. This job required a full mechanical removal of Laitence from the subfloor before we could do anything, followed by a coat of F Ball and Co Ltd 1100 gypsum smoothing compound (gypsum subfloor) . The wood was installed throughout the entire ground floor with no doorbars anywhere but maximum expansion under all frames and fitted on an approved ms polymer adhesive. The face of the step up from lounge to dining room I used Ultrafloor Stick it Grip n Grab adhesive. And then finished off with Stairrods UK Ltd premier lip trims in brass. What a stunning job.

What a fun project to be part of over the weekend!

I fitted out the annex for ‘Granny in the Garden’ using J2flooring natural timbers ‘natural oak’ planks on top of flooring grade plywood. First go trying out the new x-skim adhesive spreader, and I’ve gotta say, it’s not bad! It’s a very different angle to what I’m used to, and I could DEFINITELY do with a bigger size but it feels nice to grip, there was no cramp in my fingers like I’d usually get from a fan type trowel. It’s light weight and has a fairly easy blade change mechanism making it fairly easy to maintain. It certainly won’t be the last time it gets used! Thanks Brenn 👍

With the Flooring Show South well underway, I thought it’d be a good time to take a little trip back to the last Flooring Show in September. Yours truly won the judges challenge, and Daniel Jones was crowned king 👑. But the best bit for me wasn’t the competition, it’s was meeting up with friends old and new. Meeting people I’d spent years talking to online but never met in person, and seeing old friends & mentors again. Sadly I can’t make it to south, so everyone attending, I hope you have a great time and PARTY HARD!
