3 evenings • 2 hours per session • 6 hours total

This relaxed, practical course is suitable for complete beginners and anyone with little or no sewing-machine experience. Learn to shorten trousers and simple bottoms, from fitting and measuring to achieving a neat, professional finish.

You will leave with a completed alteration, a printed workbook and the skills to repeat the process at home.

Course availability

Choose one of the following options:

• Tuesday 22nd September to Thursday 24th September, from 6pm to 8pm each evening, same dates but daytime 11am- 1pm
OR
• One evening or daytime per week, on either a Wednesday or Thursday, starting from 30th September, same times as above.

Please note that the second option will be arranged over three weekly sessions. The end date will be confirmed when your place is booked.

Booking and deposit

A £20 non-refundable deposit per person is required to secure your place. The remaining course balance will be payable before or at the start of the course.

Please bring

• One clean, simple pair of trousers or bottoms that are too long
• The shoes you normally wear with them
• Matching thread, if available (not essential)
• Reading glasses, if needed

For your first alteration, please avoid expensive, lined, leather, highly stretchy or complicated garments. Very thick-seamed like jeans as may require a different technique.

Equipment provided

Sewing machines, tools, practice fabric, irons and other essentials are provided. You do not need to own a machine or buy a sewing kit.

You are welcome to bring your own machine, scissors, tape measure or sewing kit if preferred.

📅 Three weekday evenings
⏰ Two hours per evening
💷 £75 total (please note that this is an introductory price)

💳 £20 non-refundable deposit per person to book

I can create basic text and simple one-off designs, or embroider your existing business logo if you already have it available as a PES embroidery file.

As I create from my home studio using domestic embroidery machines, I’m keeping this service simple, affordable and perfect for small businesses, sole traders & smaller orders. 💚

How does an evening of sewing, sipping & socialising sound? 🧵🥂

I’m thinking of launching Sip & Sew – a relaxed 3-hour sewing evening where you’ll create your own item, enjoy a glass of Prosecco (or Nosecco, tea or coffee ☕), tuck into some delicious nibbles, and head home with a handmade item to be proud of and the pattern to make it again!

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already love to sew, it’ll be a fun, friendly evening full of creativity and laughs. 💕

I absolutely loved creating this one.

I was asked to transform a collection of children’s football shirts from previous seasons into a single keepsake T-shirt for a long-standing volunteer and someone who has been a huge part of the club over the years.

Preserving years of dedication in one unique garment that can be treasured for years to come.

These are the kinds of projects I love most – taking something with sentimental value and giving it a new lease of life. 💚
