The crazy UK drought has provided us with some great flying over recent weeks. Decently soarable sea breezes and a few surprisingly punchy thermals at times. We've had a flurry of tandem activity too. But... Despite the great flying it doesn't look great for farmers - the land looks much more like savannah.

This evening on Channel 5 (in the UK) will be a bit of fun at the Eype cliffs with a TV presenter and crew but very nearly no wind at all...

Great to have had our first training day of 2025 already. Lovely smooth breeze and lots of useful flying. The only problem being cold toes when the frost melted and left the grass very damp.

We have been out instructing on every day of the second half of June - there's a neat statistic! It has been so great to see so much progress from our clients - we've done handfuls of taster days, loads of EP courses finished and CPs students graduated to fly free and far! We have even had one student go from total beginner all the way through the courses. We've had hot days and windy days. Soarable days and days with a lot of walking...

We had an amazing time this morning introducing 3 people to the skies at Swyre hill. It was pretty breezy but once up we had all the space and height and views we could ask for. Two of my passengers were amazing twins both of whom are quadriplegic. We used Flyability's Handivol buggy - by far the best one we've used. Massive thanks to my team of volunteer assistants without whom we simply would not have been able to do this - Roy, Richard, Bob and John.
Afterwards, as a bonus I was able to fly home after though by then it was more than just a bit breezy (without bar I was going backwards). What a day!

So great to have a proper run of trainable weather at last. We have been out 6 days in a row. The first run like that since last July! I'll let the photos speak for themselves...

Despite the wet ground we got out today. Sadly it ended up pretty strong and rough so it was mainly ground handling. I thought I'd test things out and had a great wipeout in one of the many mud patches.

Great to get back to Bell hill yesterday for the first time in ages. The views were moody but the air was great.
