We are excited to have taken the gardens on at Sparr Farm. It’s an incredible space with some amazing history, now it’s time to get our hands dirty and restore it back to its former glory! 🪏

🌿 One of my favourite things about being a gardener is the wildlife we come across.

Slow worms are probably my favourite garden residents to find. Despite looking a bit like snakes, they’re actually legless lizards and are completely harmless. They’re a great sign of a healthy garden and do a fantastic job of helping to keep pests under control.

This little one was carefully relocated to a safe spot while we carried on with today’s work.

A healthy garden is more than a tidy garden. Finding creatures like slow worms and newts is a great sign that a garden is supporting biodiversity and providing valuable habitat for local wildlife.

It’s moments like these that remind me that every garden is its own little ecosystem. Looking after gardens isn’t just about keeping them tidy—it’s about protecting the wildlife that calls them home too.

🌿 Border transformation complete! 🌿

Freshly defined edges, refreshed planting, and a clean finish have completely lifted this beautiful garden space. We planted the border with a carefully selected mix of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and ornamental grasses to provide year-round structure, colour, texture, and seasonal interest. We also replaced the old broken slab path with a soft grass pathway, creating a more natural flow that complements the garden’s character and draws you through the stunning rose-covered pergola.

The result is a colourful, welcoming feature that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

The lupins are back 🌿💜
Even more beautiful this year, they’ve burst into colour and completely stolen the show in the garden already — tall, vibrant, and full of life. 🌸✨

Plant profile: Lupins are classic cottage garden perennials loved for their striking flower spikes, rich colours, and ability to attract bees and other pollinators. They thrive in sunny spots with well-drained soil and return each year with an even more impressive display.

Lilac is already a standout in the garden, but this purple variety with white-tipped petals is something special 💜🤍 The contrast in color gives each bloom extra depth and detail, especially in sunlight ☀️🌸 Strong fragrance, unique coloring, and packed with flowers — easily one of the most impressive lilacs I’ve seen this season 🌿✨

What a busy (and satisfying) day! 🌿

One of our regular customers wanted to replace an old privet hedge that just wasn’t providing enough privacy or noise reduction from the road. We recommended Prunus laurocerasus (common laurel) – a dense, evergreen hedge that’s perfect for screening and soundproofing.

We removed the old hedge and roots, dug a fresh trench, and planted the new laurel using a mix of existing topsoil and organic compost to give it the best start.

The result? A much neater finish, improved privacy and noise reduction – and they’ve even gained an extra metre of space around the front garden! 👌

🍁 Autumn is here in the garden! 🍂

The change in season is really starting to show — trees are turning rich shades of red, orange, and gold, and the borders are full of late colour. It’s one of the best times of year to enjoy the garden, with cooler days and that crisp autumn air. 🌾

Now’s also a great time to tidy up, plant spring bulbs, and take in the last of the blooms before winter sets in.

🌸 Plant of the Week: Hibiscus moscheutos (rosemallow) 🌸
