Finished these Roman blinds made up in Lagom in Linen by Beaumont Textiles. It's a sheer fabric but my customer didn't want them to be see through. I therefore interlined them all in white lining and lined them using a very pale ivory, thus avoiding a creamy/yellowy look during the daylight hours. The fabric has a very subtle grey spot which blended really well with the curtains which I made over 15 years ago.

As usual, I have several projects on the go but today I manged to finish this room in time for my customer's daughter's return from Australia at the weekend. I hope she'll love it. The voiles are made over long with a cottage style heading to give a soft romantic look. The voiles were made as dress curtains but are full enough to pull across when privacy is needed, without dropping the blackout blind.

These beautiful curtains were installed to help shade a south facing room. A lot of planning goes into making curtains on this scale, 53 meters of fabric and 21 widths in total. When curtains of differing lengths are in the same room, I like to make sure the pattern is matching from the top so that, as in this case, the pattern follows round all the curtains. These are pleated to pattern i.e. the pattern falls in the same place all the way along the top of the curtains. To achieve this takes time and a lot of calculating, especially to make sure all the spacing looks the same ... tricky when the length of the curtain tracks all differ but well worth the extra effort.

When I spotted these trims by James Hare at a recent Taste for Design show, I knew they would be the perfect match for my customers' fabrics. These will be added to two Roman blinds.

My mini scissors by Guggenhein are an absolute joy to work with. Having lovely tools makes such a difference.

I'm currently working on 53 meters, 22 widths, of this beautiful Anthos Sheer Seaspray fabric by Sanderson. All seams will be French seams as the curtains will be unlined but well worth all the extra work.

This is the result from a pleated lampshade course run by the lovely Jane from Lampshade Loft. A lot of pricked fingers but it was worth the effort. Of course I had to complicate it by making my trim from velvet... not easy when you're a mere novice
