HomesNI met Rosey Linton (née Graham) from Grahams Ice-Cream Dromore.
Rosey tells us the wonderful story behind this much-loved family-run business, including how a nurse came to acquire the secret ice-cream recipe from an Italian soldier during the war, and then went on to establish the original ice-cream parlour in Rathfriland — a business that is still going strong today, alongside another location in Newcastle.
Rosey and her husband David moved to Dromore with their two children in 1996, taking over Reid’s Newsagents in Market Square, and they haven’t looked back.
Today, David and their youngest son Dylan still hand-make the ice-cream on the premises, and while it all started with the original vanilla recipe, they now produce up to 50 different flavours.
And Graham’s is still very much a newsagents too — selling everything from everyday essentials and hot drinks to some very tasty sausage rolls.
A true Dromore institution, right at the heart of the community — and honestly, worth the trip for the ice-cream alone.
