🎉 BEACON CRAFTS IS 17 TODAY! 🎉
A long post (sorry 17 years of memories 🤣)
Today marks 17 years since Beacon Crafts first opened its doors — and what an amazing journey it’s been! 🥺🧶❤️
What began as a small craft shop has grown into something so much more:
a warm, friendly, and supportive creative community. 🥰
I feel incredibly lucky to have shared so many crafting journeys with you all.
It hasn’t always been easy…
We’ve navigated some very tough times, including economic challenges and Covid, when small businesses everywhere faced huge uncertainty. We worked hard to keep supporting our customers and stay connected with our crafting community in every way we could.
Like many independents, we’ve had to adapt, evolve, and reinvent ourselves along the way. We’ve changed how we work, expanded what we offer, and had to adjust our opening hours to help us develop another exciting part of Beacon Crafts — designing our own crochet patterns, growing our online crochet lessons and creating our own products and projects.
It’s meant difficult decisions, but it’s allowed us to keep growing while proudly staying on the high street, which means so much to us.💕
Today, Beacon Crafts is more than a shop:

🪡 Workshops and classes across many crafts
🧶Learn to Crochet” sessions in-store and across the UK
✍️ Our own crochet patterns and designs
📦 Creative crochet boxes and project kits
💕Community groups for crafting, chatting, and friendship, including our brand new crochet group, The Loopy Stitchers launching in 2 weeks !
🛍️ Support for local makers, showcasing and selling their crafts for them in-store, free of charge (small commission only when sold)

But most of all, it’s the people who make Beacon Crafts what it is.
The friendships 🥰, the laughter, the advice, the encouragement, the tea… and yes, the “just one ball of wool” visits that somehow turn into five and a new project! 🤣🧶
We’ve watched so many of you learn new skills, grow in confidence, and create beautiful handmade pieces.
Weve cried on each others shoulders and supported each other through hard times. 🩷
We’ve celebrated successes, helped through tricky stitches, and simply been a place to connect.
And after 17 years… we’re still here. ❤️
Still learning.
Still creating.
Still adapting.
Still supporting our community.
And still growing.
We couldn’t have done it without our amazing customers, local community, suppliers, fellow makers, and everyone who has supported us over the years.
Whether you’ve been with us since day one, or just discovered us recently — thank you. You are part of the Beacon Crafts story. 💕
So today we celebrate not just a birthday, but 17 years of creativity, friendship, resilience, small business, yarn, crafting and community. 🧶❤️
