🐑 DUMFRIES PRIME SHEEP REPORT - 26 AUGUST 2026 🐑

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries. Big jump in averages today as 8 Buyers went to battle for all weights and classes. Heavy weights meeting the strongest competition. The sale was topped with Charolais Lambs at £221 from Wilson, Tinwald Shaws with Texel lambs from Hyslop, Maryfield making 386p/kg.

A lean show of Ewes and Rams todays were well bid for by a strong presence of Buyers. Greenshields, South Mains achieved £208 for Texel cross Ewes. Light Ewes achieved £130 from Cowhill Trust, Muirside for a pen of Cheviots.

NFU Scotland is supporting members through the developing BTV-3 situation by providing the latest updates, practical guidance and strong representation. We continue to engage with government and industry partners, pressing for measures that help farmers manage risk and maintain business confidence, including improved vaccine availability.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Cressfield Hotel, Ecclefechan, last night. Around 120 people attended, underlining the significance of the developing BTV-3 situation and the need for farmers to stay up to date on the latest information and restrictions.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of Rearing Calves at Dumfries. Calves were dear. £780 was achieved on 3 occasions from Dick, Lochmailing for Angus Calves. Milk Calves were astronomical with week old calves achieving £525 from Torr Organics. Belted Galloway Heifers seen £460 again from Torr Organics. Normandy Calves achieved £320 for 3 week old from Grains Farm.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of Store Cattle at Dumfries. Restricted movements unrestricted prices. Store cattle see a strong price lift on the fortnight with Purchasers travelling from the South to see the quality Dumfries has on show. Top price today was £2190 for a pen of 445kg Limousin Bullocks from Ewart, Belridding and Heifers topping at £2010 from Wright, Innerfield and Ramsay, High Auchneel. 492.1p/kg was top p/kg for Bullocks and Heifers topped at 452p/kg from Ewart, Belridding.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of OTM and Prime Cattle at Dumfries. Cows met strong competitive prices. All purchasers present and hungry for Cattle. Black and White topped at £2405 from Murray, Conheath and Beef Cows topping at £2286.90 from TS Farming, Rigghead. Murry Conheath topped p/kg at 260p/kg and Braid, Leithanhall was up to 250p/kg. Cast Bulls topped at 240p/kg from Hyslop, West Lanegate.

Prime cattle to 420p/kg from Jardine, Yett to R Johnstone & Son Butchers, Annan and to 390p/kg to M Helliwell.

🐑 DUMFRIES STORE SHEEP REPORT - 21 AUGUST 2026 🐑

C&D Auctions held their opening sale of Store Sheep in Dumfries. 606 lambs were presented to a strong local representation of buying power. Prices were strong from start to finish with no drops in prices with obvious circumstances going on. £138 was achieved by MacKintosh, Kirkton of Kingoldrum for a pen of 6 Beltex Lambs. Rorison, Clonrae consigned a pen of 40 Texel cross Lambs achieving £123 comfortably. Hunt, Bushcroft was up to £116 for a pen of 51 Texel cross Lambs also. Cheviot Lambs in high demand topping at £114 from Weir, Dressertland for a pen of 40 lambs. Have full confidence selling in Dumfries.
