The Alternative Centre The Alternative Centre is a small independant gift shop which sells unusual gifts from around the world. Prices to suit all budgets starting from 99p.

We also have a huge selection of jewellery and accessories. Two questions we get asked on a daily bases - Have we been here long? and is it the same owners? Have we been here long? The Alternative Centre opened in 1988 as a health food shop with the odd gift. Slowly the shop added more and more gifts and by 1995 the Alternative Centre became a fully fledged gift shop. d Nettie parted ways in 2012 in business and in matrimony. Nettie is now the sole owner of The Alternative Centre. So if you pass by and don't see Nettie don't worry she is still very much here. Now with her much earned 'social freedom' she is enjoying getting the chance to spend more time with her friends and family ; )
