🍃🌳 EVERWILD 🌳🍃

Had the dreamiest Monday morning at Everwild playgroup - books in the woods = the best combination! It was so lovely to see lots of little ones getting stuck into imaginative play in the fresh air! Muddy boots, rosy cheeks and lots of fun had - exactly how playtime should be! 🥰

Sharon has such an amazing set up, and you can tell how much time and care she puts into building all the little elements that make this outdoor playgroup feel so magical - from a fairy garden, to a little woodland shop, to a Gruffalo play tray - so much to explore and interact with. The children were so happy to arrive, and so sad to leave - the sign of a truly special playgroup! 🍄 ✨

A huge thank you to all the lovely families who chatted and welcomed me along, and the biggest thanks to Sharon and Neil for having me - I can’t wait to come back again! ❤️

✨📚 World Book Day 📚✨

What a wonderful day I had today with the amazing Dianne at TinyTalk Dundee

Dianne really kindly invited me along to read a story to three of her Tiny Talk signing groups, and to set up a little book stall too - and I had the best time! The families were just lovely, the little ones were so adorable in their costumes that I had a little lump in my throat, and I was totally blown away by the classes. It’s no wonder Dianne is an award winner - I was so amazed by the little one’s signing skills, genuinely amazing to see - she is the definition of an incredible teacher ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who I chatted to today for making me feel so welcome, and to everyone who bought a book - your support of my little pop up bookshop means the world! 🥹📚

A lovely morning at Boomerang stay and play today 🍃🥳✨

We had lots of fun playing with the farm - and lots of other toys too! - then did some farm themed crafts and stories - some beautiful sheep and scarecrows/farmers were made - and one abominable snowman which made me laugh! ☺️🚜🐷🪿🐮

🍃 My first little event 🍃

Yesterday I ran my first little event at Fowlis Easter Hall - and these photos shared by my friends and family made me so happy 🥹

It’s always nerve wracking hosting an event - and I was especially nervous since this was the first one! I really wanted to be able to offer a space where parents could come together, chat over a cup of tea and some cake, browse the Usborne books and let their little ones have fun - and I really hope I managed to create that for everyone who came along! 📚

We had themed play trays, a craft table, a little reading tent and lots of books on offer - and the kids got stuck in which was so wonderful to see 🥲 🦖 🚜 🦀 🎨

A huge thank you to my family for helping me get everything set up, and to the AMAZING for the delicious cupcakes and brownies - check out her page, her cakes are incredible ! - and to my marvellous mum for the excellent loaf cakes too! 🧁

And the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who came along - this job means the world to me and I am so grateful for the support! ❤️

My first initiative as an Usborne Independent Community Partner was in aid of Children’s Mental Health Week. ❤️

So many wonderful businesses have supported this campaign, sponsoring book bundles for nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools in Tayside - 22 different settings will receive books specially selected to help children and young adults understand and process their feelings, build resilience and ultimately look after their mental wellbeing.

Nothing feels more special than being out in the community doing this work - what a joy it has been dropping off these books into their new homes! Teachers and staff have been so lovely, and super grateful - and I’ve even had the chance to meet some lovely pupils this week too! This is all thanks to the incredible businesses and individuals who have so kindly donated and supported the appeal.

These books will last years in nurseries and in school libraries, and who knows how many children and young adults might find comfort, reassurance, and the tools they need to navigate their feelings within these pages. I’m such a believer in the power of reading - and just a million thank yous to you all for helping me get more books into the hands of more children. My cup is full to the brim! 🍃❤️

Hello new followers! 🍃

My name is Amy, and I’m an Independent Usborne Books Partner and the face behind Little Leaves Bookshop 🌈 ☀️

I live in Dundee with my husband Allan, and our two daughters - one is 4, and one is almost 11 months old. We have a boxer dog, too - so it’s a busy house! 😵‍💫😂

Reading has always been a huge part of my life - I studied two degrees in English Literature at university and still love to read in my spare time.

As you’ll see, my girls love stories too! We read together every day and there’s nothing more magical to me than seeing the spark of imagination as we discover new characters, adventure to new worlds and learn about the world together.

So I’ve joined the Independent Usborne Partner community and want to share the joy of stories and reading with as many children and young adults as possible! ✨

I am busy planning some ideas for events behind the scenes, and collaborating with some local businesses too - if you work with children in any capacity - whether in a nursery, or school, or activity group - I would LOVE to chat with you!
