The black 5 has its new stainless steel super heater fitted. It runs much more efficiently than before and its possible to do 15 laps of the garden before adding more coal. With the old super heater you could just about get 10 before the fire was almost out. It handles quite differently too. It will wheel spin at any speed with more than a touch of regulator. The next thing to do will be to adjust the timing, as its out on one side. The valves leak steam slightly when the loco is cold but not when its hot, which you can see in the video.

Due to popular demand, we are reintroducing out brown line side fencing packs.
They were originally made from coloured resin.
We have tweaked the dimensions slightly to make the fence panels slightly smaller in height and length.
The panel ends slot into the same base.
The base panels also fit our whistle signs and other sign posts.
2 meter packs from £25

Working on a replacement for the old resin kit, the GWR Type 7 signal box.
This was a really popular kit, but couldn't be produced until I purchased a much bigger printer.
This version will have 5 windows at the front instead of 6.
It will be significantly easier to assemble with much less parts.
There will be an interior kit with 20 levers and a longer instrument stand.

The prototype Br Mk1 Suburban is taking shape. This is on the shorter 57 foot underframe, making it suitable for branch and Suburban lines with tighter radius curves.
Bogies were always of the 1st generation with leaf springs. Not a comfortable ride for the commuters!
A drafty one too with doors and windows that didnt seal well.
They were ideal if you were in a hurry to get to work as you could open the door and jump out before the train came to a complete halt..
Modern day Health and safety officials would have a field day!

Working on a prototype for a Period 1, Brake third coach.
This will use a one piece body shell printed by DaVinci Enterprise Ltd and will be clad in thin panelled sides. The compartments will clip into place, so that any problems such as glazing becoming detached can be easily rectified.
It also makes it easier to add details like lamps and photo frames and painting.
Glazing will be laser cut.
Unlike the mk1 coaches, these have a classic tumble home shape, making the glazing so much easier to design and fit.
The underframe will screw in place, like the Mk1 coaches.

All of the Gauge 3 MK1 coach kits were taken out of production due to being made with resin last year.
I can no longer work with due to becoming allergic to polyurethane resin..
I originally made all the masters for molding using 3d printed masters on my old prusa Mk2 machines. These required considerable clean up and it was not viable to print in any material other than PLA.
The new machines print PETG really well and with some redesign, I was able to make a new coach body thats very easy to assemble.
I have regained the curved petg side panels from the old design.
Petg can be solvent welded with dichloromethane
Which can be purchased from your local model shop under the guise of "Plastic Weld"
This forms a much stronger bond than superglue.

All of the new coaches will have removable underframes that are screwed in place. This eliminates the wobbly gutter line which is inevitable with removable roof panels unless they are made in metal.
This is the prototype for a Suburban 2nd brake. Non gangway. So no corridors. If you needed the toilet, then that was tough luck!
