****************************TERMINAL********************************Just to let everyone know, I am no longer in business making guitars, or as a 'music shop' (that was the only Facebook term they had that vaguely fitted what I do) in Dunragit. I now live elsewhere and have had to close the workshop. I'm leaving my site here for everyone to see, just for posterity really. I put so much into it, I can't bare to take it down. All the best everyone.

Hi Folks. This is just a quick video demo of my ashwood bodied LIBERATER from alexanderguestguitars.com. I'm playing on the bridge pickup, which is an old Schaller 2 in 1 I've had for years. I start off on the single coil setting and then half way through I switch the micro-switch over to full humbucker. The Amp is a Vox AV 15 hybrid modelling amp, with the model set to "Crunch 2". What does everybody think of the tones?

Hi Folks. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Here's a recent review of my COMET model, done by my friend Joey, guitarist and vocalist the wedding band ASTORIA based here in Stranraer. The COMET in the video is just one interpretation of the design. I can change any specification to suit individual player's needs. Hope you like it!

Hi folks. Just wanted to get an opinion on something. Does anyone think this guitar is going to be good enough to put into the Great Guitar Build Off? All the hardware I think will be black, with chrome covered pickups (tele neck pickups)???? What does everyone think? See LIBERATER page alexanderguestguitars.com for previous examples.

Many thanks to Joey Pearce of the band ASTORIA who came down today and did a demo of my LIBERATER serial no. 001 Check out the full specs on my website alexanderguestguitars.com. It's also available for purchase right now, from the "Available now" page of my website, if you'd like to own it yourself.

Hi folks. Well, it's been a while coming, but the Imploder Mk2 has finally been delivered to the customer. It's been completed and in safe storage until his birthday, which was last week. Here's what he had to say about it when he finally got his hands on it;

"It's not quite what I was expecting. It's better. Much better. In fact, it's a superb instrument. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the black korina is much more striking in real life than in the pictures. It's a truly beautiful instrument, in a dark, understated sort of way. I love all the little details, like the wenge covers and the little scoops, the korina binding, the way the wenge shows through the headstock veneer where the truss rod adjuster is, the recessed brass ferrule block, right down to the slick frets and the way you've rounded off the ends. It looks every bit as good, if not better than other guitars costing many thousands.

More importantly, it plays very well. I'll need to tweak the truss rod a fraction now it's settled in, but other than that, it's flawless. The neck profile is perfect, so it's a real joy to play. The sustain is simply unreal. Single notes on the high frets bloom and sustain and sing forever. Unbelievably good.

All-in-all, this is as good a guitar, if not better than anything I've ever played. And that includes a lot of very high-end instruments.

So - very well done! An outstanding job." Mr L.T. from Leeds.

I can help you create your dream guitar too! Please see alexanderguestguitars.com for details.

Hi folks. I'm just looking to get some opinions. I've just changed the look of my TEMPEST demonstrator model. It's now got more chrome accents and chromed tuners instead of the black ones it had before. So.... before and after shots. Which one does everyone prefer??? Hi Folks. This is the fifteenth post of my latest LIBERATER (reg. design) build from alexanderguestguitars.com Now the woodwork is complete I need to start staining. I did a sample which has been signed off by the customer which you can see on the glass table. An unusual blue over red finish. So I started with the red (2 coats), then sanded it back. Then I went to the blue, and sanded that back to leave the faded blue finish with red accents in the grain. I finished it off with a base-coat of clear 1K Klarlak, ready for customer approval, which was accepted. So the guitar is now in Coatings (finishing). What does everyone think so far?

Hi Folks. This is the fourtheenth post in my latest LIBERATER (reg. design) build from alexanderguestguitars.com Now to tackle the frets. I started by masking off the fretboard. I always run tape down the length of the neck either side of the fretboard first, then when you put the tape across the fretboard, it will help to keep it in place when you're polishing the frets and the polishing mop wants to peel it off (when you're polishing the ends). Then I rounded off the corners of each fret end. Then I leveled them with a home-made fret leveling block with a piece of belt sander belt stick to the bottom, as this lasts well. Next I filed the crowns back on with a fret crowning file. Then I used my home-made fret crowning tool, which is a thin piece of wood, with a groove in it, shaped to fit my hand. I used 240 grit to take away the coarseness of the file-marks, moving the paper along the block to an area of fresh grit for each fret. Then came the polishing with a little fibre mop in a Dremel, and some green polishing compound (for stainless steel). After all that, I removed the tape using the long lengths under the tape going across the fretboard to "unzip" it. Frets done.

Hi folks. This is the thirteenth post in my latest LIBERATER (reg. design) build from alexanderguestguitars.com After fixing the fret markers, and trial fitting the bridge, I started tackling the frets themselves. Cutting the individual frets with side-cutters from the coil. Then trimming them to length, then undercutting the tang at both ends of each fret, to ride over the bindings. Then I used my fret-end filing block to file the ends in. I also made some custom pickup mounting rings in wenge. Note the central stripe of purpleheart running down the centreline. I can make custom pickup mounting rings to any specification, for any specification for any guitar (so long as I can copy the original). Your choice of timbers and colours. If you have pickups like Bill Lawrence or other speciality pickups, I can help! Please see the details on my website to contact me.
