Yellow Thunderstorm Warning Issued by the Met Office ⛈️⚠️ Central Bedfordshire Council's Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) has advised that local businesses in the High Street and surrounding areas may wish to consider putting flood protection measures in place as a precaution this evening (25 Aug).

The Town Centre Assistant has approached local businesses to ensure they are prepared and have plans in place should flood defences be needed tonight.

Residents can also take a few simple steps to prepare:

✅ Check gutters and drains around your property are clear
✅ Keep an eye on local weather forecasts and updates
✅ Secure any loose outdoor furniture, bins and garden items

⚠️ With the ground currently very dry due to the prolonged hot weather, sudden heavy rainfall can lead to flash flooding. We urge everyone to take extra care, stay alert to changing weather conditions and keep safe. While we hope the severe weather does not materialise, it is always best to be prepared.
