Here’s something special. Two wedding dress bears made from a beautiful silk blend damask dress from the 1920’s. 100 years old! No pressure!!

It was a beautiful classic dress very much of the period with high neck and long sleeves, a huge big floppy bow at the back, with hand finished piping. Very simple to let the quality of the fabric sing. Absolutely tiny in stature, it would probably only fit a 12 year old now.

Sadly I didn’t take a picture of the dress as it was in quite a sorry state. It had been stored in a plastic bag in an attic for the last 20 years and had quite a bit of mildew and lots of staining.

I managed to clean it up quite well and tried my best to select sections that weren’t stained.

I reduced the size of the bow and added one to back of the first one, still nice and floppy. I reused the piping to finish it off just like the original. The other one has a bow as a corsage

So happy that I managed to help it live on 💕

The bears were commissioned by the ladies granddaughter, one bear has been kept by her to remember her nana, the other her father to help him remember his mother 🥰

Helping to keep memories alive 💖

Had a great weekend at the show. Thank you to everyone who popped by to support support. Firstly to my lovely friend Nikki who popped by and surprised me. I haven’t seen her in probably 12 years as she moved abroad. So lovely to have a catch up.

Also the gorgeous Alison Love DnA who although she couldn’t be will always be with us. So lovely that she still supports us all. My darling sis who always pops by and brought my nieces along with handmade chocolate treats for an energy boosts for me and Jinny too.
Thank you to everyone who made even the smallest of purchases, those little sales really keep us going.

And more happy news….
my first Blythe doll has been adopted along with Pascal the peacock. I’m definitely going to miss him but after glimpsing up and seeing the reaction on his new mumma’s face I knew it was absolutely love at first sight, so I know he will be very happy in his new home. Moments like are so precious to me 💖

Me and the bears are back in MK next weekend. Looking forward to seeing you all again. We always have such a great time...

This is the reason why I love making my memory bears. It makes me so proud to be able to create something is so special to people and offers them comfort when they lose precious people in their lives. The clothes that leave behind are a lasting connection for us.
These two bears were a surprise for this lovely man for his partner. He sadly both of his parents last year so she really wanted to create a special keepsake for him. They sent me this lovely message on Christmas Day just after he opened them. He has kindly said that I can share. So sweet🥰

I was just looking through my page and realised that the teddy bear maker hasn’t posted any pictures of bears for a while.

This was a lovely order for 80th birthday gift from a lovely lady, to her mummy made using her grandma’s old fur coat.

It’s actually really sad that these things cost such a lot of money back in the day, and are now essentially only suitable for landfill, or languishing in cupboards …..
But at least this one gets to live on in a new form. I’m really proud of how it turned out, I think I did it justice.

I’ve never been a fan of fur….especially as I used to have pet chinchillas as a child…..
Plus I’m an Aquarian ( if you know any you’ll understand 😆)
….
and It was difficult to sew
So it’s not something I want to do again, but I believe in trying new things. The world is full of new things to try, so I like to keep trying.
