Massive Congratulations to The Big Pit Museum, and for winning Best Shop in the Cultural Enterprise awards yesterday!
Last year we again joined forces with Arantxa at Exhibeo VM and Matthew and Anya at Matthew Henderson Creative Ideas and Solutions to help overhaul the gift shop. We designed and made bespoke shelving, display units and a range of new merchandise all inspired by the Big Pit Museum.
In presenting the award, the judges praised the shop as being "A deeply impressive shop redevelopment - immersive, meaningful, emotionally resonant and commercially sharp." They highlighted the use of upcycled mining materials, the improved signage and the new collection of merchandise as being a reason for the win.
At the time we said how much we enjoy projects like this; ones which carry a theme through every aspect of what we do and allow us to showcase our eye for detail - It's incredible to think that these things have been picked up on and highlighted as a reason for someone winning a national award.
