🎪 Don't forget that it's a double outdoor market this weekend! 🎪

Tomorrow, our popular, bustling Saturday market is back, with around 40 local traders selling everything from food and drink to fashion and homewares.

Then, after a 25-year hiatus, the City of Durham Show is back this Sunday!

Durham City Town Hall Durham England and the Market Place will come alive for a wonderful celebration of local talent, community spirit and good old-fashioned show-day fun!

🏆 Inside the Town Hall, you’ll find an impressive display of competition entries created, baked and grown by talented people from across the local area. Categories include:
🌸 Flowers, plants and floral arrangements
🥕 Fruit and vegetables
🍰 Cookery, preserves and produce
🎨 Arts, crafts, knitting and photography
🌱 Special classes for young exhibitors

🐶 There'll also be positively paw-some activity out in the Market Place, with the City of Durham Dog Show, sponsored by Bert and Barn's Natural Doggy Treats!

The doggy fun begins at 11:30am, with classes including Puppy, Best Male, Best Female, Best Crossbreed, Best Rescue, Golden Oldie and Best Fancy Dress, followed by the all-important Best in Show. Entries cost £2 per class, payable in cash at the ring, with proceeds supporting ODD Animal Rescue and Happy Paws Rescue. Rosettes will be awarded from first to fourth place! 🏵️

🛍️ But that's not all! We’ll also have an outdoor market in the Market Place, including pet portraits by JLHprint and WoofPix Pet Photography, so you'll have even more to browse and discover throughout the day. PLUS... our Indoor Market Hall will be open from 10am until 4pm!

So come along and join us as we welcome this much-loved Durham tradition back to the city! 💚

Introducing the new bread range at Market cheese & deli! 🥐🍞🥖

Have you heard the news that Market Cheese & Deli is now stocking a tempting selection of breads from our friends up the road at Claypath Delicatessen - the home to Durham's only sourdough bakery?

This morning, artisan sourdough breads (both brown ancient spelt and organic white varieties) 🍞, beautifully flaky croissants 🥐, and indulgent pains au chocolat arrived at the stall, all freshly baked at Claypath Deli's in-house kitchen. We've also heard rumours that delicious focaccia is on its way tomorrow too! 😍

They're starting with small batches of each bake as they introduce this exciting new addition to their range, so we highly recommend visiting as soon as you can if you want to be among the first to get your hands on them!

Owner Lisa has told us that she will look to expand the offering once she settles into this new routine, so even more delicious bakes could be heading her way soon. As if you need any more reasons to keep coming back and see what Lisa has stocked on her shelves and in her fridges! 👀

Is it too soon to mention the 'C' word yet? 🎅🎄⛄

We don't think so, as it's good to be organised and avoid last-minute panic-buying! And especially when these adorable Christmas decorations and stocking fillers have landed at CardShark Durham!

There are fun personalised stockings, reindeer decorations, and naughty/nice list badges for everyone, with so many names included. Can't find your name? There are initials and blanks on certain variants so that you can insert your own name. Plus, there are also options including 'son', 'daughter', 'mum', 'dad', 'grandma', and 'grandad'. They even have options for your BFF and best teacher!

Now, do you deserve to be 'officially on the nice list' or 'officially on the naughty list'?! 🙈😇😈

👩‍🎨🎨 Did you know that we have an incredibly talented artist right here in our Market Hall? 🎨👩‍🎨

can be found on the right-hand wall of our indoor market... and if you're lucky enough, you may get the chance to catch her hard at work, creating beautiful pieces right in front of you.

Whether she's working on an atmospheric painting of a local landmark or an incredibly detailed pet portrait commission, it's a sight to behold. Chrissie is one of those enviable artists whose work spans all styles, from abstract paintings to lifelike portraits, so she really does cater for all tastes.

You can buy her art as original canvases, prints, or even greeting cards, so if you're after a special gift for someone, a framed picture for your home, or a personal commission, look no further than our wonderful, lovely, talented Chrissie.

The City of Durham Show was a much-loved fixture in the city’s calendar for more than 60 years, and we’re delighted to be playing a part in its long-awaited return after a 25-year absence.
