I’ve stopped doing these over the last couple of years, never really considered why but other things obviously happen and life takes over..anyway..it was nice to sell one of my back catalogue items today..! The Koru is going to a new home..👍

Latest work:
A Toki or Adze was used to carve the great wakas and also to cut and work timber for the fortresses or Pahs in which Maori lived.
It was such an important tool in Maori life that it became regarded as a symbol of power, authority and good character.
This one measures 75 x 25mm

Been a while since I went into the workshop but finally back in there with a special set of Roimata for me and my siblings to remember our dad. Slightly away from tradition, with the addition of resin mixed with dad’s ashes, so he can always be close to our hearts ❤️
