We're delighted to welcome Lazy Daisies to our events for the first time on 1st August at Geilsland Estate. Joanne creates beautiful flowers made entirely from pipe cleaners, bringing a fun and colourful twist to traditional floral arrangements. Each flower is individually handmade, creating a lasting alternative to fresh flowers and they make a great gift.

🐝 Our bees are buzzing away beautifully, creating the honey that makes our delicious Ellis Scottish Honey Spiced Rum so special.

Sweet, smooth, and packed with flavour, it's delicious. πŸ₯ƒπŸ―

I don't normally name my queens (they might get numbers but not names).

I call this one Lola 🀣 can you guess why?

This is her 4th season, which is unheard of in my op, normally I "retire" them after 2 or 3, due to lack of honey production and vigor.

It's amazing she survived at all and functions. Built a huge colony this year too, great at laying around corners 😁.

I'm gonna let the bees sort her natural, maybe this'll be her last cameo, tune in audio 2027 to find out.

Queen rearing from our best colonies goes on from May till mid July. We use lots of different techniques, from naturally in hive, to splits, grafting and, in this photo, cell harvesting from demarees.

That way, along with drone rearing, we promote our good genetics and limit the queens we need to buy. These will become next years star honey producers 🀞🍯🐝

It's almost June and the bees are going bonkers πŸ€ͺ🍯🐝. Looking like the biggest spring harvest I've seen, sycamore nectar literally flying into the hives.
