Pssst! Some highly controversial goods have just arrived...

I know it makes some customers EXTREMELY angry when we put these out before November, so I will be handling our advent calendars like Prohibition-era liquor this year.

If you want them, whisper loudly and I'll get them out of the stock room for you ;-)

Maybe you like to spread the cost of Christmas out over the autumn, maybe you're sending gifts to family who live abroad and want to make sure they get there safely - either way, we won't judge!

We'll be holding a second Italian-themed event at Wishing Tree by the Sea as part of Heart of Dunbar Gestival on Wednesday, 19th August at 8pm! Day one at Fringe by the Sea! 🌊🌊🌊 We had the most relaxing start to the morning with yoga with Erin Taylor, follower by an incredible event with Joseph Coelho hearing all about his Relic Hamilton series!

Next there was an incredibly inspiring event with Hannah Lavery and Michael Pedersen!

Thank you to everyone who has dropped by our pop-up at Coulters Property Makers Market or our stand at book signings today - and huge thanks to Fringe by the Sea for having us back again this year!

I have been woefully slow in celebrating the release of Consider the Ravens by Cressida Downing - but urge you to add it to your summer TBR!

Set in Lindisfarne in the late fifteenth century, Consider the Ravens is a locked-room (or rather, locked island) mystery, focusing on the central character of Linnet, a young female scribe who has fled to the apparent safety of the island and its monastery, which is undergoing an episcopal inspection. As monks and islanders begin to die in suspicious circumstances, Linnet seeks to uncover the identity of their killer - whilst hoping that her own past will remain hidden.

There's nowhere quite as intriguing and atmospheric as Lindisfarne, and Cressida has evocatively captured its allure and rich history, in a book rich in characters you'll deeply care about. I also loved learning more about the art of manuscript illumination (and the fact that there were indeed women scribes!)
