This edition of The Places That Made Us features Mike Wadey, Proprietor at Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway. ๐
One of Eastbourne's longstanding attractions, EMSR Adventure Park was built by Mike and his family and opened to the public in 1992. Mike has poured so much love, care and skill into the attraction for decades and built many of the trains himself. He now gets to share the joy with his wife, children and grandchildren who all play different roles in keeping it running.
"EMSR has been a labour of love for the past 34 years, I am so grateful to my family and friends who have shared my vision and helped to create this beautiful attraction."
There are plenty of things to do and areas to explore here. As Mike says, "Of course the miniature trains are the star of the attraction, but I love walking around the Nature Walk and Grandmaโs Garden area, it is so calm and peaceful and a great way to switch off from the busy world and enjoy the moment. The crazy golf is also heaps of fun!"
"We are now seeing our second generation of visitors who came when they were children and now have children of their own, we love that they can share their own memories of EMSR with their loved ones."
Having evolved constantly over the years, one thing remains true to the heart of Mike's work and that's "seeing people happy, smiling and having fun - it's what life is all about."
Thank you to Mike for sharing his experience at Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway, the place that made him. ๐
