Just in case you missed it, The Times chief art critic named nine of the best UK museums & galleries earlier this year - and we were thrilled to make the list!

“You don’t so much visit Jupiter Artland as fall down a rabbit hole into this sculpture wonderland outside Edinburgh. Some journalists are the first into a besieged city: I can lay claim to being the first journalist to have had a paddle in Joana Vasconcelos’s splash-shaped pool. If you go down to the woods at Jupiter Artland, you will find sculptures by Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley and Tracey Emin. Pablo Bronstein’s Rose Walk is the prettiest architectural caprice — gothic at one end, chinoiserie at the other — you will ever see. Stay at the Artist’s House and you will have the grounds on your doorstep.”

With an incredible permanent collection of sculpture set across hundreds of acres of meadow, woodland and water, there’s always something to discover at Jupiter Artland - from iconic works by some of the world’s leading artists to hidden corners of the landscape waiting to be explored.

Keep an eye out for our programme of temporary exhibitions, as well as special events and activities taking place throughout the year.

Make a day of it and visit our café for a bite to eat, or experience our Wild Dining for something a little different.

We also have Free Learning, our mission is for every child in Scotland to experience the perception changing power of art! Plus anyone can join us in MAKE Studio where you can get our own hands dirty with activities and workshops for free.

Come and fall down the rabbit hole for yourself.

Member's Exclusive Curator Tour

Join Eloise Bennett, Jupiter’s Curator, to learn about In Pride, In Piety, In Vigilance by Sgàire Wood on 24 September at 11am.

This is a members-only event. Tickets are free but booking essential, link in bio.

With origins in drag, fashion photography and multi-artform nightlife scenes, Wood’s practice is concerned with the layers of meaning behind everyday images, visual performances of identity, pop-cultural symbolism, authenticity and artifice. Wood is well-known for her humorous performance work combining dance, make-up and costume design. This new commission brings together her multi-faceted practice to create a poignant meditation on identity and inheritance.

In Pride, In Piety, In Vigilance utilises heraldic symbolism and pop-culture iconography to examine notions of heritage, tradition and violence, specifically positioning heraldic ‘beasts’ as representations of the precarity and oppression faced by a population navigating the rise of fascism. By considering the multifarious and conflicting cultural connotations of colour, form and material, large-scale sculpture positions the grave and abject alongside (and often inextricably within) the glamourous, humorous and sensual, prompting audiences to question the significance hiding beneath the ‘decorative’.

Drawing upon her upbringing in the North of Ireland, Wood employs the iconography of sectarianism to strip the relationship between image and ideology to its core. In doing so, she explores the processes by which the most ubiquitous signs and symbols come to be imbued with violence. In Pride, In Piety, In Vigilance constitutes a frank but hopeful look at current political urgencies, all while leaving room for humour and the possibility of solidarity and transcendence.

We can't wait to see you there!

Taming the unruly.

Nature is the protagonist at Jupiter, and this week it took centre stage in the Ballroom Garden through a Niffing workshop led by the brilliant Jennifer 'Niff' Barnes. Gardeners and horticulturalists gathered to learn the quiet, alchemical art of winter pruning and shaping, creating living forms that will unfold over time into sculptural bursts of rose blossom.

Simple, effective and deeply considered, Niffing is about working with nature rather than against it. This workshop added another layer of care and craft to the landscape, shaped by shared knowledge and time spent looking closely.

Thank you to and everyone who took part for creating something lasting together. Niff plans to return in summer, with further workshops to follow.

These intimate, specialist sessions are just the beginning. More unique workshops and learning experiences are already taking shape for 2026.

Taming the unruly…
Nature at Jupiter doesn’t stop for Christmas. It’s the important protagonist in the Artland and yesterday we were lucky enough to have it elevated through the expert tutoring of the tremendous Niff Barnes and a group of dedicated gardeners and enthusiastic horticulturists learning the alchemical art of “Niffing”. Niffing is simple, effective, glorious pruning and shaping in winter that will produce over the years natural sculptures heaving with rose blossom. Thank you Niff for creating another layer of magic in our ballroom garden. Niff plans to return in summer 2026 …watch out for the next extra special course.

New artist editions by Georg Wilson have arrived in the Jupiter shop, created to accompany her exhibition The Earth Exhales.

These limited pieces draw directly from Wilson’s painted world, capturing the textures, colours and quiet symbolism that shape her installation in the Ballroom. The edition has been produced in small numbers and is available only at Jupiter Artland.

They are thoughtful keepsakes for those who feel a connection to Wilson’s work, and meaningful gifts for the season.

Available in the Jupiter shop while stocks last - tea towels have been a particular favourite so far ✨
