How ready are you for Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme?

With the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) due to launch in October 2027, Exchange For Change has launched a monthly survey to find out how retailers are preparing and what support they may need as the launch approaches.

The short, anonymous survey is an opportunity for retailers to share their experiences, highlight any areas where they need more information and help shape the guidance and support available to the retail sector.

It takes just 2–5 minutes to complete, and there’s also the chance to enter a prize draw to win up to £250 in Amazon vouchers.

Whether you’re already making preparations or still getting to grips with what the DRS will mean for your business, your feedback can help build a clearer picture of retailer readiness.

Exchange For Change: Latest Updates for Retailers

Independent retailers across Scotland may be interested in the latest updates from Exchange for Change as preparations continue for the Deposit Return Scheme, launching in October 2027.

Key updates include:
• A new monthly Retailer Readiness Survey launching in early September.
• The first list of certified Reverse Vending Machines is expected in early October.
• Further DRS webinars and guidance will be available this autumn.
• Exchange for Change has now been appointed as the scheme administrator for Wales, creating one administrator across all four UK nations.

At PGMA Scotland, we will continue to share relevant updates to help keep independent retailers informed as preparations progress.
