I've been quite quiet on here for a while, but we've not been sitting about doing nothing.
We have plans in hand for days for the shop to be open in September - more news about that in due course - and we'll be attending South West Congress and Scotex in September and October (again, more details later).
In the meantime, here's a bit of personal news.
You may or may not know that I do a bit of running, so along with my good running buddy Kate Crichton we entered the "Lakeland 50" Ultra-Marathon. We started specific training in September last year and worked at it over the following months (except for the small interruption of me having emergency surgery !).
So - just under a fortnight ago the two of us completed our first ever event of this size. Fifty miles (80km) over Lake District Fells and through Lakeland Dales, taking in almost 3,000m of ascents. The route was not marked and we each had to carry our own equipment. It kicked of at 10am on the Saturday and there was a final target cut-off of 24 hours. We were delighted to come in with a time of 20hrs 26mins, totally soaked from the overnight rain, but still moving fairly normally, and still speaking to each other.
It was a stunning event - the route's scenery, the general organisation, the volunteers at the checkpoints, and the other participants made it memorable.
We've yet to discuss whether we want to do another ever again :-)
