Does anybody recognise this view? It’s from a late-Victorian collection of photographs undergoing cataloguing, with the bulk of the other 100+ images being of places in Edinburgh, Fife or the Borders. This one has me stumped though. Any leads gratefully received.

Some highlights from a book of ABCs. Undated, but with an advert to the rear for polish ‘used in the household of the Queen’ which places it in the reign of Victoria. We’ve been lucky to get our hands on some incredible scholarly historical titles, including a comprehensive collection of social history focusing on the early modern period in Europe.

Stay tuned in the coming week for a thorough reorganisation of the whole history section!
