Fun hand-made slipware pottery by Michelle Lowe I do not have a shop but I do keep work in stock and I am open by appointment (no regular shop hours).

I make a range of earthenware pots which are hand-thrown on a potters wheel and decorated using colour slips (liquid clays).

Ive got my own little heatwave happening in my studio this morning. Its roasting with a glaze firing cooling down ready for last minute unloading and restocking tomorrow for the second weekend of

The most important pieces in the kiln are my son‘s mushroom necklaces which he was very delighted to sell out of last weekend. He has speedily made some more so if you were disappointed to miss out last weekend, they will be available from 10 am tomorrow at:

Also available are gorgeous artworks, signed books and prints by Kasia Matyjaszek and a good collection of my pots, including a bargain basket of some nice seconds and experiments.

There will also be tea and coffee and cake available for a donation to RNIB Scotland support supporting people with sight loss.

preparations: tiles and cakes this morning…

We will have tea and coffee and cakes available for a donation to charity at Arthouse 2 tomorrow.

And the tiles are for my demo, which I’ll be doing at 2 pm. I will be showing how I decorate my pieces and giving people a chance to have a go.

So come and see Kasia Matyjaszek’s gorgeous illustratons and my pots and have a cup of tea with us.

And maybe a piece of flapjack if I can get it out of the tin…

Hooray! thats my new ‘Shift and Flow’ collection all set up at Traade on Portobello High Street ready for the opening of

It’s been really fun making this work. The pieces are all hand built out of slabs and textured fragments of clay.

I felt like I was channelling some of my ‘kid on the beach energy’ collecting seaweeds, driftwood and foliage to make stamps to texture the clay, and wrapping clay round beach stones to make the rock bowls.

My rock bowls are out of the kiln and I’ve been getting distracted playing with different combinations and stacking sets (just like playing with pebbles on the beach!)

Now I need to pack them all up to take them along to Traade where they will be on show from tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing them all set up there.

It’s all go in my studio this week getting ready for which starts this Saturday.

Kasia Matyjaszek and I will be offering free workshops and demonstrations at her house (Arthouse 2).

Pottery demonstration with Michelle Lowe
Sat 5 and 12 Sept: 2pm

On both Saturday afternoons I’ll be chatting about my making processes and showing some of my surface decoration techniques, such as using slips and sgraffito (drawing illustrations into the clay with a sharp needle tool).

Come along if you want to find out a bit about my processes and chat all things pottery!

The demos are free, but numbers are limited so message me if you’d like to reserve a space.

Mushrooms, chickens and tea sets queuing for their place in the kiln…

A few of these beautiful beach stones found their way home with me from our family holiday to Northumberland this year. I’ve been playing with forming bowls round them.

I love their forms and the combination of groups of them together.

The pebble bowls are about to go in the kiln and if they come out well, I’m hoping to show a collection of them as part of my Shift and Flow exhibition at Traade as part of .
