🌦️ How much water has your crop or site really lost this year?

We were delighted to join Belinda Clarke OBE from Agri-TechE for a recent Agri-Chat, where our Peter Palmer discussed the growing importance of accurate, field-level weather and environmental data.

As water availability becomes an increasingly important challenge for UK agriculture, understanding what is actually happening in your own fields can make a real difference.

🚜 When is the best window for irrigation or spraying?

Relying on weather data collected miles away doesn't always tell you what's happening on your farm or location.

With an on-site weather and environmental monitoring system, farmers and growers can access accurate, real-time local data to help make better-informed decisions about irrigation, spraying, crop management and water use.

We recently completed the installation of a comprehensive course-wide environmental monitoring solution at Harleyford Golf Club in partnership with Green Irrigation.



Leveraging the power, flexibility, and reliability of the Davis Instruments EnviroMonitor platform, the project included the deployment of a full weather station alongside four strategically positioned monitoring nodes across the course. Using long-range communication technology, these additional nodes provide enhanced environmental insights through supplementary leaf wetness sensors and rain gauges.



Despite the challenges presented by Harleyford's undulating parkland layout and mature tree coverage, the advanced mesh networking capabilities of EnviroMonitor enabled us to establish a robust and reliable monitoring network throughout the entire course.



By integrating this environmental data with our Prodata Reports Platform (PDR), the course management team now has access to detailed, real-time insights into local conditions and their impact on course performance. This enhanced visibility supports more informed decision-making, enabling proactive course management, improved playing conditions, reduced environmental impact, and stronger communication with members and stakeholders.

This installation represents another step forward in harnessing technology and data to deliver smarter, more sustainable golf course management.

This spring, the Prodata Weather Systems team had the privilege of installing a comprehensive Davis Instruments EnviroMonitor system at the stunning Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands.

Voted the Best Golf Club in the Netherlands for the third consecutive year, Bernardus is no stranger to elite golf—having hosted the Dutch Open and now preparing to take center stage as the proud host of the 2026 Solheim Cup this September! 🏆
To support their world-class Course Management Team in making precise, data-driven agronomic decisions, we deployed a robust, long-range sensor network featuring:
A centrally based 6803 Gateway and 6820 GroWeather station.
Multiple nodes equipped with long-range antennas for seamless course-wide coverage.
Real-time data updates every 15 minutes to the WeatherLink portal and app—tracking ET, Rainfall, Wind, Leaf Wetness, Soil Moisture, Temp, and EC.

📊 Turning Data into Decisions All data is seamlessly integrated into our bespoke Prodata Report Software, giving turf professionals easy-to-understand insights on Soil Moisture Deficit (SMD), Growing Degree Days (GDD), and Growth Potential (GP). Plus, with our R&D-backed disease models, the team can proactively manage risks like Dollar Spot, Anthracnose, and Microdochium.

Following the success of our recent Prodata Weather Systems (Davis Instruments) installation at Leeds United F.C., we returned to Elland Road to further expand the club’s environmental monitoring network with an additional advanced sensor node installation.
The latest deployment included:
1 fully equipped Weather Station with integrated Cellular Gateway
5 remote sensor nodes strategically positioned across the stadium
3 fully populated sensor nodes installed at the training ground to complement the existing Weather Station and monitoring node already in place
Together, the system delivers real-time insight into critical agronomic and climatic conditions, monitoring:
PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation)
Temperature & Humidity
Evapotranspiration (ET)
Rainfall & Irrigation
