Good morning ✨ After a wonderful weekend, mainly thanks to my sister and the gorgeous Harry, I have decided that the quarry time flooring is great as it is! I did have to rewax it a couple of times and buff them up to counteract most of the white finish. It is far from perfect and I did discover a few broken tiles, mainly in the alcove area, to which we have added some terracotta milliput. However, I genuinely like the more rustic, antique finish to them and it is a huge improvement to the state I found them in. I have added some furniture back onto them now and will continue to redecorate at a later stage as it’s the start of my 60th birthday celebrations this weekend. The website will close down on the 27th June 2026 so now is the time to take a final look and place any orders before then. I am open to reasonable offers so please message me if there’s anything you are particularly interested in. Thank you ☺️

Never getting these 7 days back!!! It’s been exactly one week since I decided it would be a good idea to remove the old carpet from one area of the shop and clean up the original quarry tiles 🤣 It’s not perfect by any means but it’s been exhausting work to get it to this finish and was rather disheartened by all the white salt (?) finish that appeared after removing most of the levelling/glue/sisal and the tiles dried out after cleaning. My lovely friend Wendy suggested I try using traffic wax and then buffing up so this is the floor tonight, with a layer of wax on. I am leaving it to dry out overnight and will buff up later if it stays looking like this. If all the white returns after drying, not sure what I will do next 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyways, off to enjoy my Friday evening with my hubby and dogs. Tomorrow, as an early birthday gift, my sister Cecilia McCullen has bought us tickets to see Harry Styles in concert !!! Cannot wait 🙌 Happy weekend everyone ###

Good morning 🌅 Back at it again!! Just to remind you that the website is only live for a few more days and then I will be shutting it down. Please feel free to message me with any queries in the meantime. The shop is in a complete mess right now, as I continue with my redecorations but collections and viewings are possible by appointment. Have a great day 🤍

This project is definitely not for the faint hearted 😱 I have been scraping away at these tiles for 3 solid days and Pete has also helped me in between his work commitments. I really wanted to do this as eco friendly as possible and avoid using any harsh chemicals. But every single tile was covered in a mixture of levelling compound, glue and remnants of old sisal which had completely bonded onto the tiles with a concrete like finish. After a while, I used strong white vinegar all over to see if that would break down the hard covering. It seemed to help a little but not that much to be honest and made me stink of vinegar and the vinegar fumes were quite strong 😬. A couple of lovely people dm’d me and suggested maybe using a steamer/wall paper stripper to see if that would lift off the compound. I was unsure if water would do it as it really was like hard concrete all over but as it was an eco friendly option, I thought it was worth a go. I had an old small floor steamer which I tried out on the floor and to my amazement, the steam did help dissolve the covering. It’s still really hard work and I have to hand strip every single tile but the steam has made it so much easier!!! Thanks so much for all your suggestions and words of encouragement, I can now see that I will be able to complete this without calling in professional help 🤗 I’m so happy to be able to revive these lovely antique quarry tiles even if my hands are all blistered and my whole body aches ❤️

As the shop is now closed, I have begun to do some redecoration inside. I presumed that the whole flooring was concrete but was not present when the floor was changed over from the sisal floor covering to the grey wool herringbone carpet. I thought I would expose the concrete floor and possibly polish it up for a more industrial look. So imagine my surprise when I lifted up some of the carpet from one end of the shop and found this lovely old tile flooring 🤗 . I do believe most of the shop flooring is old concrete but this side of the shop which is slightly higher has these red tiles . I look forward to seeing what the rest of the flooring is like and hope it’s not in too bad condition.
