A transformation worth seeing 🪓

This axe came to us looking like it had definitely seen better days… but there was still plenty of life left in it.

A bit of time, care and restoration later, and look at the difference.

This is exactly why we love restoring old tools. Sometimes they don’t need replacing; they just need a bit of attention.

The Ark gets top marks when it comes to sharpening 🔪⭐

Thank you for all the feedback on our last sharpening video! We took it on board and made this one a little longer, with a bit more detail so you can actually see the process.

This time, we’re putting an old knife through its paces and bringing that edge back.

A proper piece of wartime history just in at The Ark 🇬🇧

This Elwell Universal Axe was issued to the Home Guard and is stamped “CD” for Civil Defence, 1940.

What makes this one particularly nice is that it’s all original . This is exactly the sort of piece we love getting through the door. Plenty of age and character, with its wartime markings still there to tell its story.

A great find for anyone interested in WWII, Home Guard memorabilia, military tools or British history.
