On 7th October 2020, I unpublished my books with Authorhouse.

I am pleased to announce that I am currently working on some concept photos with David Smith, who illustrated my other book The Tales of Mr Mouse and Friends.

The idea is to start a Kickstarter project to fundraise enough money to redesign all three books.

I can't wait to explore these books further the stories are great but the illustrations are a bit 2 dimensional. I am sure David will breathe new life into the children's characters, as discussed with him I would like to make the books more inclusive.

Each book will require a substantial investment, for, editing, illustrations, design and marketing. Editing will be approximately £300-400 per book and illustrations between £1300-1500. It is a big investment but one which I think the books deserve.

I hope you can join me on this new journey, there will of course be incentives once the project has fully started. Watch this space for further information.

Keep an eye here, as I share further details of the project and images.

Thank you for your support.

This is my new book The Tales of Mr. Mouse and Friends published by Austin Macauley Publishers on 30th July.
The pictures are the book cover of The Tales of Mr. Mouse and Friends and one of the fabulous illustrations by David Smith that complement each chapter (this illustration is from Chapter 5 - Mr. Mouse Meets His Match)
The book is a collection of twelve short stories, perfect for bedtime stories for young children.
I set each chapter in a season and the book follows Mr. Mouse and his friends over 3 years.
You meet Suzy, the squirrel who runs the local country store. Eric, the gnome who thinks he is happy being lonely and grumpy but changes his mind when he meets Molly the dolly. Molly, the dolly, is a peg doll, and she has two best friends, Ferris, the cat, and a dog named Wheel.
The stories are of friendship, love, overcoming adversity, surviving a pandemic. The animals hold council meetings and throw parties, whilst enjoying each other's company, Mr. Mouse loves nothing more than afternoon tea with his dearest friends Frog and Bee.
I hope the story will become a bedtime favourite for young children

And not much has changed.  We are still living a lockdown life.  Christmas for the Meads in 2020 was a very quiet affair. We still had our support bubbles of course but with the three household limit the government imposed it was almost impossible to see everyone. We met one of our sons outdoors f...

I'm happy to say the book is back from editing and the illustration work begins.
There will be twelve full colour illustrations representing each chapter. Three representing Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
I'm very excited to see Mr. Mouse and his friends brought to life by David Smith .

Below is an excerpt from Chapter 7

One fine autumnal day, in the woodlands surrounding the River Louse, Molly the dolly was walking by the cottage belonging to Eric the gnome when she was surprised by the teacups on display in the garden. Oh, how beautiful, Molly thought to herself. I wonder who it is lives in this beautiful property surrounded with these lovely items?
Eric the gnome was not going to give himself away, he liked the loneliness. If he made friends with anyone, he would have to talk to them and be nice to them. He was quite happy being miserable and grumpy and on his own.
Miss Molly the dolly was about to walk away when she thought she saw the gnome in the centre of the garden move, a slight twitch albeit, but she was certain he did twitch.
“Hello,” said Miss Molly. “My name is Molly. What is yours, please?”
Nothing was said, Eric remained silent.
Again, and a little louder Miss Molly said, “Hello, my name is Miss Molly, what is yours please?”
Again, the gnome said nothing, remaining as solid as he could make himself, Eric was giving nothing away. Indeed, Eric had his fingers crossed behind his back, hoping that Miss Molly the dolly would not notice.

Let me introduce Mr Mouse. From my new childrens book The Tales of Mr. Mouse and friends.

Mr. Mouse doesn't have a first name but he does have a wife, called Hilda, and eleven sons and a daughter, that's a lot of mouths to feed!

Mr. Mouse also has many friends amongst them Frog and Bee, they eat, drink, forge friendships, hold council meetings, survive a pandemic and throw parties.

Keep up to date on the progress of this book, which is currently at editing stage.

I will announce its launch date as soon as it is known.

The amazing artwork is by artist David Smith who will be producing twelve full colour portraits for my book.

This is a sample produced for me and I am delighted to see Mr. Mouse brought to life with his artwork.
