I’m so happy to say i’ve dropped off some stock at Maker Mart beautiful shop. Including some exclusive one off pieces that are only available to purchase there (like this paua shell, brass and recycled sterling silver pendant). Their shop is filled to the brim with incredible works of local makers and artists I feel truly honoured to have some of my pieces stocked in amongst so much beautiful work. It is so worth popping in and seeing what incredibly talented people we have amongst us here in the west country.

After a nearly 2 year hiatus, this week I finally return to jewellery making. My new making area is all set up and i’ve started works on my first piece again. My website is up and running again www.marciawaldstadt.co.uk my etsy shop is still ticking along. Lavender bunches are drying. The room smells amazing! And i’m so excited to be getting stuck in again. I won’t be doing custom orders for the time being. The only way for me to be able to return to my bench currently is to work my own hours, to make when I can and to sell what i’ve made once pieces are finished. I’ll return to custom pieces in the future 🧡💍🔨

Hello 😶‍🌫️ i’m working slowly on some sweet things: earlier this year I completed my Interior Design course and as time progressed with so many things happening over the last year and a half (good and bad) I really started to come back to myself again. Having been completely consumed with motherhood over the last decade in the most wonderful way, it left me feeling a little bit lost in moments where I found time with just “myself” again. Isn’t motherhood such a trip? I’m a entirely different person now to who I was before I had my son 13 years ago. Over the last couple of years as he’s growing and becoming more independant, i’ve had to meet myself again, get to know me. While the last year has had much turbulence with family grief and personal health etc the beauty in it for me has been feeling absolutely solid in discovering what it is in life that brings me joy, what I want to be doing. Discovering my greatest passions along the way: jewellery making, interior design and my garden. Oh my garden! A place of complete peace, being in the moment, my sanctuary. A total place of reliable safety no matter what! I’m working slowly on a couple of projects. Putting together something interior design related separately but also feeling the absolute pull to incorporate my garden with my creativity somehow, in a simple way. So i’ve started working on a miniature lavender farm from my garden. Carefully selected lavender plant babies are in their place and now I follow natures slow path in caring for them until they grow big enough to harvest from them and create some beautiful bundles etc to sell alongside my jewellery. With the majority of my free time now being spent in my garden I dream of incorporating my jewellery making and my garden. So i’m starting simple and going from there. Soon there will be time for my bench again. I’ll need to do a little jiggle around and sort my bench again. Brush up on my skills again and take some time to just dive into it all. Until then, you can find me in my garden 🪏 🌱

This year I really got into wearing french hair pins, such a simple, pretty and practical way of throwing your hair up during busy tasks or warmer days. I love the simple, effortless, chic look that comes with french hair pins. So with my first day back at the bench this is what I ended up making. Hammered copper and brass, with a sweet halo detail that just adds that cute detail to the hair.
I’m 100% going to make more of these to pop on the shop.

Back at the bench! My shops (online) always open but I haven’t had bench time in so long. I’ve been busy studying Interior Design this year. My studies finish in April and then I think i’ll have more time on my hands again to consistently make jewellery. But today is the first in a long time i’m actually finding time to be at my bench which is so exciting for me! Oh how i’ve missed it. Today will be free flowing creativity and realigning myself with this whole process 🥰

Yesterday I sold a pair of these copper and brass stripe hoop studs which reminded me I have an etsy shop! I always prefer website orders as it pays me better than etsy but my etsy shop is there for anyone who prefers the security of buying on a platform like etsy.
All of my copper or brass ear pieces have silver contact areas (studs for example) to lessen the chance of irritation for those who react to copper or brass but would still love to enjoy these beautiful metals. My Etsy store stocks all my ready to go items so that means quick delivery!

I pretty much live in this ring. It’s one of my favourite pieces. In my artwork generally i’m very controlled, fine clean lines, clear images etc but through jewellery making last year I discovered the joy of intuitive and free flowing creativity. Jewellery making is the one and only creative outlet I have allowed myself to just let go and let what happens, happen. And they are my absolutely favourite pieces.
I’m still not finding any time to consistently return to my bench. Jewellery making is so incredibly time consuming and for me a really meditative process, it’s not something I can personally just dip in and out of. With my little family we are currently in a time of absolute busyness in our lives. So many other things are taking priority at the moment. But I am just itching to return to my bench, and when I do the first thing i’ll be doing is more creative free flowing intuitive pieces 🥰

I’m really really missing time at my bench at the moment. I need to get back to it soon though to polish up on two things: my skills and 3 sets of earrings i’ve made recently 😅
