Hi I'm the Jurassic Weaver. Welcome to the homepage of my independent, hand-woven rugs, seat/knee, or pet pads and wall hangings.
So, let me tell you a little more about the processes, methods, and materials I employ and where I am in this beautiful country of ours.
I weave on a Peg Loom, which is a very traditional way of weaving and has been used since the very early years. It is a very effective way of weaving materials and can be made to any length required.
I use either material that is not required or able to be used for the intended purpose anymore or "raw" wool. Raw wool is fleece from sheep that has very little processes done to it. I wash it in a detergent that is very gentle but effective enough to remove dirt picked up by the animal. Due to the gentleness of the wash, the natural properties of the fleece are retained. Wool is stain and odour resistant as well as being naturally hypoallergenic, and of course naturally soft and easy to maintain as the wool items require no washing, just a simple shake out or spot clean. To make the weaving stay together, a warp is used. Mine is and always will be 100% cotton. If you have an idea in mind of something you'd like, please message, and we'll see what we can work out. there will be no extra charge.
I am based on the beautiful Jurassic Coast and absolutely love the fact that the sheep the fleeces come from have this wonderful countryside to live in. Prices include P&P. Please like, comment and share.
