Most people come to me simply because they want a decent chair and they understand the extra value my expert advice and personal service provides.

Few people come to me because they just want another chair. They've likely got a house full of worn out trash from Ikea and Amazon.

My usual advice is that an armrest is the correct tool for supporting the weight of your arms, and this in turn will help prevent pain in the shoulders and neck.

This client needed the armrest particularly low so she could use them to help her stand. So I installed a bracket that allowed the armrests to go lower than usual, and an armrest top with a button so that it doesn't move as the client leans into it.

This sort of thing just isn't available online.

I absolutely love this pair of Conform Timeout chairs I delivered last week. The wood detail in the foot and the extra Funco table being stand out features of this pair.

When you say you bought an ergonomic chair, did you go to a specialist and seek advice on the correct size and features for you, and instruction on how to adjust and set it up properly?

Were you able to try it to ensure you found it comfortable?

Or did you buy a chair online that had the word 'ergonomic' in the heading?

Running a small business is hard. When you choose to buy a new thing you have a choice of literally thousands of places to buy it. Many of these places have massive marketing budgets and huge teams of people who are expertly trained and massively experienced in encouraging you to give them your money.

One of these places is owned by a man has that has more money and is more famous than pretty much every other one of the 8 billion people we share this rock with.

Then there's me, Paul, 55 from Exeter, and my little shop and website. No one at Amazon cares too much when you take the time to leave a reveiw.

As you know the height of your office chair and desk is extremely important. Most office desks are a fixed height of 720mm, which is odd, as not all people are fixed at the correct height for this to be suitable.

However with so many employers sourcing their office chairs from their stationary supplier many colleagues are choosing to spend more time WFTT.

And like most UK desks, most UK toilets are at a fixed height, this time 410mm, and as your people all have a different lower leg length we've been working with one of our suppliers to design a toilet that can be adjusted so it supports your colleagues for as long as they need to sit there, whatever their height and leg length.

Are you the same height as all of your colleagues? Or even your family and friends?

Of course not. Therefore, nearly all fixed height desks are not the right height for nearly you and everybody else. In the same way that a pair of size 9 shoes will be uncomfortable for most.

Back in the dark days of the 20th century we made do with all desks being the same height, regardless of the needs of the user because there wasn't any sensible alternatives.

But this no longer makes any sense. Like black and white tv's and Ford Cortina's, fixed height work desks have their place - the past.

But just as it's possible to buy poor quality TV's and crap cars, so many of the sit and stand desks we see advertised online lead with price. They're very often do not solve many of the problems you hoped they would and are made from cheap components.

The R800 desk is our entry level desk. It does cost a little more than some. But that's because it has a motor in each leg, not just one on one side and internal components built to last, not cheap plastic gears that will quickly disintegrate. And it has a 3 stage leg (cheap desks only 2) so that it lowers enough for nearly everyone to sit at the correct height.

It's stable, quiet, and quick.

It rises and lowers at the touch of a button. This means you can always have the desk at the correct height for you, and you get to move more during the day.
