Thank you to Amy at Okehampton Times for getting in touch with me and publishing my fundraising story, it really means a lot. https://www.okehampton-today.co.uk/news/okehampton-man-to-tackle-snowdon-on-childs-bike-in-memory-of-dad-920095
In August I'll be undertaking a 447km cycle across Wales, which includes a climb to the summit of Mount Snowdon and Cadair Idris, riding a 24-inch childrenβs mountain bike, to fundraise for the Cancer Research UK and British Heart Foundation.
I hope to complete the challenge in memory of my dad, who passed away from bowel cancer three years ago, and finish a journey to the top of Snowdon, which we started with Dad when I was a child.
I'm hoping that this fundraiser will encourage people to get any health concerns checked early, so they can receive treatment for life-threatening conditions in time. My mum and I have previously been successfully treated for skin cancer and uterine cancer respectively, but sadly, dadβs illness was a "hidden" cancer and was caught too late. I'm also going to be raising money for The British Heart Foundation, the UKβs biggest funder of research into cardiovascular disease, a cause that I champion as I suffer from hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. I only discovered that I had it after a visit to the NHS walk-in center for something unrelated, it's a disease that is linked to strokes and heart attacks and is so easily missed. My mum experienced a minor heart attack two years ago and has had 3 stents fitted, mum's back Taiko drumming now and loving it, so it just shows the valuable work and research they do.
If you can donate to my cause, I will be absolutely stoked and it'll be going to two amazing charities. If you can spread the word by sharing, that would be blooming marvelous too π€π»π²β₯οΈππ»
